About this deal

This is usually £79 for the year.

This service is offered with the Connected drive pack for the first 3 years following the purchase of the vehicle, after which it was previously chargeable.

Depending on the year of the vehicle, this service may already be unlimited on your car.

Concerning compatibility, the year must be rechecked but it is for all vehicles from 2013-2014 compatible with Connected drive services.

To test it in your car, here is the process:

Select from the vehicle menu: “My vehicle” > “Settings” > “General settings” > “Remote Software Upgrade”. If “Remote Software Upgrade” is displayed, you can use this feature.

WHAT DO BMW REMOTE SERVICES DO.
  • conveniently lock or unlock your doors remotely
  • enter destinations directly into your navigation system
  • always know where your BMW is parked, wherever you are

Curious to know from a distance whether the doors are locked or the windows are closed in the rain? Whether your tank of fuel or battery charge is sufficient to reach your next destination, or when the next oil change or service is due? Simply connect to your BMW on your smartphone. Keep an eye on its status at any time – wherever you happen to be.

About time! Now you will know where your car is if it gets stolen

Easy to switch off on idrive. It should be password protected to be useful

    Thanks Op.

Now looking for Free BMW car deal to implement this free REMOTE SERVICE
  3. MarkyCoops91's avatar
    Had this for ages.

It actually helped recover my car, 25 minutes after it was stolen.

It’s not live tracking of the car but it let me know where it was once it parked up. (edited)

All cars should have this as standard by now

Any alternative ideas on how to get Apple Car Play without paying £265?
    tightge77's avatar
Depends on the model of your car. If it's 2017 onwards you could use esys and you would mostly likely need to install a WiFi antena yourself as well.

What is this for? Any benefits? Is it worth getting?
    HaroFreestyler's avatar
You can locate the car, lock/unlock the doors, send directions to your car.

Plus it tells you how much fuel left, and current status of windows etc. You can also activate ventilation depending on your car.

It’s a good system, used it on ours for years now.
  10. JoShmo's avatar
Does this include the heated seats subscription or is that on top?
    freebiehunter's avatar
It’s only the very basic remote services that most models already have included for lifetime

I have a 2013 f11 can’t seem to add my car to the app as it won’t connect to the internet to receive the security code to add my car. Any one know what I can do?
    ms84's avatar
    Try this x3.xbimmers.com/for…583

In "connected drive" menu click on options button below the dial and click on "update BMW assist. Wait for it to update and you should get more options like "messages". That's how I got the code.

The premimum price that you pay for a BMW. I would I have thought BMW would have thrown this in.
    foodieclaire's avatar
It depends on the car but generally no brands do. I had a GLC and had to pay Mercedes-Benz £99 for this but it was for 3 years.
Now I have a BMW iX and it is included.
  13. iamflamez's avatar
I thought this was always free? it's been on all the bmws ive had over the years
    Wombatwilson's avatar
Only usually in the 1st 3 years

Just tried this with my F30 330d, cool, can locate the car and ventilate it remotely etc. When I go into my car and go to BMW Online it says BMW ConnectedDrive Store no longer available for this vehicle
    Gunt's avatar
Yes mate, go on settings in connected drive and turn gps on

Have a 2013 so had already activated.Just as a heads up this will die soon as older cars use 3G for this service . It's supposed to be vodaphone, which will be ending 2024. Apparently 2G will remain basic functionality but very slow. So this is free but be next to useless in the next 12mth 😔

I don't even have a BMW but clicked on this thread out of interest. I have a 2004 car so obviously has nothing like this. Can hardly believe it to be honest. I had no idea new cars had this sort of stuff. Why does anyone want to lock/unlock their car remotely using an app? Had never heard of RTTI but seems it means realtime traffic information for the satnav. Why not just use your phone?

Not wanting to rain on the picnic whatever the phrase is. Maybe if you actually have a BMW it makes more sense. I wouldn't pay them anything at all for this though and in fact I'd be looking for some way to defeat their location tracker etc.
    JohnSmith33's avatar
My wife very often forgets to lock her car. I have an alert set up in my home automation, if the car remains more than 30 minutes stationary and unlocked, sends me a message and I can check what's up and lock if remotely if needed.
  18. Riddeck17's avatar
Shouldn't these features be free anyway? £79 a year seems a rip off.
    huell_babineaux's avatar
Yes. One of our cars has it. The other doesn't. No way I'm paying £80pa to (with a few minutes delay) unlock my car with an app
  19. Scrooge_McDuck's avatar
Will this work on my Ford Fiesta?
    joyf4536's avatar
    Does anything?
  20. gg1pl's avatar
Does this fix cruise control as BMW drivers can't seem to drive without being up someone's behind
  21. pss53's avatar
This an error ? Usually 89 quid isn't it for a year ? Tried it anyways (edited)
    ahenners's avatar
I think it's a change in offering some remote services for free. They still seem to offer the annual subscription which includes other things such as RTTI etc. Still, thank you OP, these are nice features and I've always been too tight to pay the £79 a year subscription which includes this. (edited)
  22. sid7777's avatar
Nice its free but its damn slow.
  23. S_Mystery's avatar
Perfect! Just got it and works. Lifetime subscription.
  24. able4's avatar
Thanks OP. Don't know how useful it will be but have activated it now. If BMW gives something for free, take it.
    vxtyrant's avatar
    It’s very useful
  25. Stefan05's avatar
Thanks for this! Always wondered why they charge so much for this… great for free 🔥

    Hi

Just wanted to check - How long did it take to work? Are you supposed to receive a confirmation email first?
  27. crack_shot's avatar
    I don't know what's more impressive

charging £80/ year for central locking or Google Maps on a BMW badge
or not charging it but considering it a deal

I think BMWs should be making indicators free since no BMW seems to have them
    roomanaimtiaz's avatar
    That’s a very lame joke

Ps of you own a BMW then you shouldn’t have to use indicators, other Road users should move out of your way. (edited)
  28. Scrooge_McDuck's avatar
I don’t have a BMW…but this is free so can I still get it?
    jimbo_wa's avatar
Nope - I'm looking to get a F31 and going through checkout states you need a VIN...

Was waiting for a Black Friday deal on this as mine had expired, just ordered this and the app is showing the connection again now to my car normally £89 per year! (edited)

Super, thanks, added to my 2017 118i :-)
  33. johnnyhungus's avatar
Thanks OP, worked just fine on my 2020 3 Series, though it should have been free anyways!
  34. NRE123's avatar
Bought… now have to buy a BMW !
    TiredParent's avatar
You’d need a VIN no to buy
  35. Qask11's avatar
Anyone else getting error trying to checkout? Says enter town/city and I am! Tried on my phone and desktop browser ?!

edit; if it happens to anyone else go into your account / profile settings and add the address there then works.

    heat! Many thanks! (edited)
  36. crazyjake's avatar
Better off giving indicators away with their vehicles for free

I assumed this was always free? Deffo came with my iX3 from new51355703-K6Jrm.jpg
    a_steve84's avatar
Mine was free from new, for the first three years, then stopped a few months ago, car is 3.5 years old, so for me at least it was free for the first three years. Others seem to have had it free for much longer or unlimited duration though, so who knows.
  38. Dmitry_77's avatar
Does it include subscription for break lights and indicators?
