What are the ads like? I found Netflix’s ad plan to not be too intrusive, curious about Disney’s approach.
    poogis's avatar
Not ‘too’ bad. Just ads for Disney shows I think. Nowhere near as bad as NowTV ads.

Note - the 'with ads' subscription does not allow downloads:

Would be great if they allowed at least 15 downloads a month to match the Netflix ad supported plan to be honest. I don't really use downloads but they are good for flights (edited)
  3. Red-VIII's avatar
Does this include 4k and ATMOS support?
    greencode's avatar
1080p. 4K is on the premium version at £10.99 a month. No ATMOS either (*Disney+ Basic (With Ads) subscriptions do not currently support audio in Dolby Atmos.)

Another great money saving tip…we booked a stay at Disneyland Paris and got 12 months free

How do you get this please?

Anyone tried if Windscribe can block ads on Disney+?
    roguess's avatar
    Torrents dont have adverts.

How do ads work with movies? If they're in the middle that's an absolute non-starter for me! My current premium sub ends shortly, wondering how to proceed so would appreciate any input!
    frrft's avatar
I’ve had the ad package for a few months now. Ads on movies are before the movie. I’ve never once had an ad in the middle of a film. But I cannot obviously guarantee this, it’s just my experience. Tv shows are a bit different, you get an ad before and then one in the middle
  7. nicksinghuk's avatar
Will this be reoccurring payment if I don’t cancel within 3 months?
    andrewworrall1's avatar
Yes. Best to set a reminder and cancel after your third payment has been taken, if you want the full 3 months but don't want to continue paying £4.99/m after that
  8. darkstryder360's avatar
Heads up... Disney+ with Ads (if you are watching short form TV shows - 20/30min a pop) is almost insufferable.

The same adverts on repeat, to the point where me and my partner just talk along with the advert as we know what they say

According to these adverts, Greys Anatomy is the ONLY piece of media on the entire platform.

Our subscription ends the end of March and we’re gonna wait a few months before even considering resubscribing.  Think we’re done with the whole subscription for a year and will only do a monthly subscription a couple of times a year once more content has been added.

Next on the list to remove is Prime.
    joevictor53's avatar
Same here. I used to have Netflix, Disney and Prime all year round. But with these new price increases and the ad tier, I'm probably just going to swap them around on a monthly basis on the ad tier based on what I'm watching that month.
  10. frrft's avatar
Anyone would think there is no option to pay for ad free content with the amount of people moaning that they cannot cope with 60 seconds of adverts (edited)
    darkstryder360's avatar
I don't want to see the SAME advert every 10 minutes.

We all grew up with terrestrial TV so I am fully aware and capable of tolerating adverts.

But not the way D+ does it. It seems like it's done to infuriate people with monotony and boredom due to repetition.

Thor 4 was an absolute joke then I found out he wrote it ‽ Why???
  12. N-Double-sixteen's avatar
Just bear in mind that the adverts at the entry point will not be what they are in 2 months or so. No retailer is going to pay money for a slot when they have no idea of the number of people on the plan. That is why this "deal" is key Disney will use it to get subscribers to the plan
  13. Moss.b's avatar
Idk how bad Disney ads are, I don't open the app much as I've watched everything I'm interested in already which wasn't much. But if you see Amazon ads, it's very bad, the more you watch the lo ger the ads get. Went from 30sec x1 ads to 2x 30secs ads, then 2x ads 1.5min. Now 3x 1min ads and this is like every 20mins. Should be giving amazon free.

We had exactly the same trying to watch a film last weekend, we literally cancelled our Prime straight after the film and luckily our monthly payment was due out in two days so we saved that £8.99 and are done with prime.....plus, im not buying random stuff we don't need just because i can get 'free' one day delivery!.
We cancelled Sky too in January, after 26 years. Got a Freesat box to watch the odd occasional programme we may have watched on Sky and are using Apple TV and Netflix for now.

1080p only in 2024, for a paid service "on offer"?
    deleted2993624's avatar
Whilst I think anyone that pays for a service that has ads needs help, only 25% of UK households have a 4K TV.

Anything higher than 1080p is a waste for the majority of people.

My current sub expires on 21st March. If I renew today, will it start end of my current sub? Or from today?
    andrewworrall1's avatar
You can't subscribe to this deal on an account with a currently active subscription unfortunately (edited)
  16. andrewworrall1's avatar
My deal ends in May! Hopefully this reappears. If I understand correctly, I can't activate this promotion to run on for 3 months from my subscription expiry date in May?

Any chance it will be on again later this year?

I previously had a sixth month free offer from Samsung before a £2.49 a month for 3 months in early Feb, so I took the new offer using a different email address and Disney plus account (there was a bit of overlap).
  17. Raclette2018's avatar
I just realised that I could pay disney+ subscription using google rewards credit. Otherwise the credits would just go to my kids audiobook that they never listen.
  18. R0BUST's avatar
Is it just me or is the Disney+ sound so much quieter than all the other streaming services. It’s so annoying when this kids watch Disney+ then when we watch something later get a shock when we almost blow the speakers! Does anyone know if there is a way to fix it?
  19. cvirikmichal's avatar
Oh nooo, my subscription ending on 17 March 🤭
    andrewworrall1's avatar
You could possibly make a new account? Only a few days difference (edited)
  20. steeveecee's avatar
Planning to sign up for this deal but could do with downloads for a flight. Anyone know if I can get this, then sign up for standard for a month, then cancel to roll back the remaining 2 months with ads?
    andrewworrall1's avatar
You can upgrade to a higher plan and be charged a pro rata amount however I don't think you can then downgrade to the £1.99 offer price. Your alternative option would be to create a new account and pay for one month of an ad-free plan

Just keep in mind your watch history won't be carried over and you'll technically be paying two subscriptions for the same service for one month (edited)
  21. A1p5's avatar
Hi guys, does this deal stack on an existing deal?
    andrewworrall1's avatar
Unfortunately not. I also asked customer services in case they could apply it, no dice
  22. 5Rivers79's avatar
Are ads during films and shows? Or at the start and end?

    Only start

Welcome to every tv package ever.
  25. concorde_p's avatar
I can't believe that the only way to get Disney plus at a decent price now is with ads!!! The whole point of streaming services was to avoid the bloody ads! Now Sky Cinema has ads, Amazon prime has ads, Netflix and now Disney are plus have ads. And the worst thing is they automatically enrolled people into the top tear service where you pay most money to get the exact same service you had. Cancelling them all, if I wanted to put up with ads I'd watch Freeview!
    Spaced_Out's avatar
Exactly 💯 I remember you buying Sky and it had no ads, hence why you paid extra for it instead of watching normal TV. Slowly but surely they introduced ads and now they want it so you can't even fast forward them.
  26. mcav's avatar
I've just cancelled Disney plus after they put the annual price up another 37.5% which takes the subscription to roughly double what I paid at launch. I don't care what I miss. Until people vote with their wallet, Disney and other platforms will continue to fleece us.
    concorde_p's avatar
Same. I loved Disney plus but I'm not paying all that extra for the same service or 5 quid a month for ads
  27. devlino's avatar
1080p plus ads with no downloads and no Dolby... lol, its not April 1st till next month
    harrythefish's avatar
Heard of Now TV offers with fast-expiring boost? 720p to you sir.
  28. HonourableGentleman's avatar
Haven't missed Disney+ since I cancelled it - load of other streaming services to keep me occupied...£1.99 isn't going to tempt me back, House of Mouse!
    wanderer_forest's avatar
    Shogun swayed it for me.
  29. Sean278's avatar
Is there anything worth watching, every time I pick up Disney there's very little worth watching.

Reasonable price but I'd never pay for a subscription with ads in it
    danvman2's avatar

  31. moongazer's avatar
not worth it, much better streaming services out there

Ditching the likes of Disney and prime, paying extra for no adds? No thanks.

As an all adult household, 3 months of Disney+ a year is enough to watch any new content worth watching, & that's been very little over the last couple of years.
  40. Unrecogniseduser's avatar
Force me to either pay more or put up with adds and I will simply vote with my feet…. (edited)
