Just to confirm, the white wine mentioned is £3.99 also (not £3.49 as mentioned). But the original price was higher, I think £10.99, so a bigger saving.

this is *exceptional* - let it stand for an hour then get stuck in

best £4 i’ve spent on a wine in ages (edited)

The basic Animus Duoro has dropped in standard a little in my view - the 2019 was phenomenal. This reserva isn't a million miles worse than it, and is definitely worth the 50p odd more (at full price) over the regular. At this price it's a no-brainer.

I thought you’d cleared the lot at your local There we’re about 100 bottles left at the Birkdale store after I left and sone of the white too

Is this deal post for Scotland?

I’ve just bought one in Scotland and it was on offer at £5.09. Still a discount but not as good as £3.99

The white was also £3.99. My wife bought me 3 of each this morning. Looking forward to the red. I've only recently discovered Portuguese wine and a big fan of the reds that I've tried so far.

The white was the bigger reduction, which is why my other half picked them up. I think she said they were £10.99.

Claimed £9.99 - £6.99 would be more realistic so still a very good deal.

    Same!
Someone beat us to it, maybe the same person who cleared out the Wokingham store.
    Could it be ?

Went to 3 different ALDIs today, sold out in two (with the reduced price on the shelf label) and the third had plenty but was selling it at full price.

Queried it with staff who said that was the price at that store

Edit: talking about the red here not the sav blanc (edited)

Don't think I have ever had a Douro that I've disliked. Fantastic deal

Portuguese famed Douro valley wine - can't be bad, especially for the price 👌🏻

    Animus?! Strange name…

Will that impair the flavour of the wine?

I've emptied my local store, for two reasons. First is that I buy too many bottles of this wine every week (including 6 on Saturday) anyway, so this is a good direct saving for me, and (b) I don't want everyone else working out how good this is - stocks can get low even at full price. Nice one OP, you've saved me a whole stack of cash - thanks.

The cat is out of the bag my friend.

My Mrs happened upon this wine early this morning and I'm currently enjoying my 2nd glass.

I'm asking her to return first thing to clear the shelves.

I won't be asking her to clear the shelves, but it is a very nice red. Very much to my taste.

I just logged on to post this deal... but don't need to now. Just come back with 6 bottles. No idea what it is like but other Douros from Aldi that I've had have been good. I didn't see the Sauvignon Blanc that is mentioned in the OP but had plenty of the Douro.

Lol... even I came to post this deal ...my store had the Sauvignon Blanc in stock. Picked up one of each to try

I've had a few bottles of this over the past few months. It is a really nice, drinkable red, and at this price, it is a bargain.

Didn't want to be greedy so only got a couple of bottles from my local Aldi last night
  19. Temperance_Dave's avatar
    £4.99 in wales bought too

Had a try it's very nice enough to buy another bottle. Hopefully they'll have offers like this each week (as they did in December), I'm looking out for the Fitou on offer.

Thanks OP. They were sold out on Tuesday but had plenty of stock today.

This afternoon I went into my local Aldi on the way to mother's for a few sweet treats. And happened to see the red (Animus Douro Reserva) priced up in the shelf at £3.99.
How did I miss this one as I normally keep an eye on their wine of the week deals.
Anyhow the wine was gone, sold out.
After visiting mother, I called into her local Aldi, more in hope than anything else.
I did find the normal type of this wine with similar branding but not Reserva at somewhere like £6 - £7.
And tucked behind these was the Reserva (but it wasn't listed or priced on the shelf). Checked it at the self serve till that it was going thru at £3.99 and yes it was.
Went back and found six of them lingering at the back, waiting to be liberated by a HukD bargain hunter

I only had a small glass last night as it didn't really go with leek and potato soup! It was very smooth though so went back in Aldi today and bought 6 bottles.
The misses said the Marlborough Sounds Sauvignon Blanc is really nice, especially at £3.99 a bottle instead of £10.99!
