You can also uses a regular case, if you already have one, and attach a MagSafe magnet

It has a type A usb on one end and a usb c on the other end that plugs into the unit to provide the charging

Thanks OP. But I am not a fan of this type of design. I had a similar phone holder. If you have a large expensive phone, expect the phone or the phone and the holder to fall off at some point into your car foot well at some point of driving along.
Make sure your phone has a good case protection and screen protector.

That sounds like either your magnetic plate is not aligned with the magnet
Or maybe the phone case between the magnetic and the plate is too thick
Or your mobile is too heavy / plate is too small

I find magnetic car holders are great - so convenient and easy to to just place and forget, especially one-handed

No point of these, wireless car charging is just too slow

Needs the correct 12v adapter, and a place where heat won't build up, and it will work as well as works charging in the house - although things like Carplay will increase battery consumption while charging.

I had a similar one. Looks good (mine was just black with no funny brand names on it, and lo ambient lightning), charges ok, if you use decent cigarette lighter adaptor, not built it usb ports. Sadly it didn't last long. First protective cover started disintegrating, and then wireless charging stopped working. I am pretty sure its down to bad heat management. Look for "ESR HaloLock for MagSafe Car Mount Charger" on amazon. That one or similar design is better for heat to escape

Had one of these but returned it. Found that the MagSafe side of it is not very good if you have a protective case over your phone. A slight jolt and your phone will end up in your footwell. Tried it without the cover just to see and it works, it does, however it defeats the purpose of me having a protective cover.
