Best time to go to Phuket
The British winter is the best time to visit Phuket. Between November and the end of April it gets gradually warmer in Thailand. In the hottest months, temperatures can soar to 34˚C, but cool breezes tend to keep things comfortable. Rain is a rarity at this time of year, but you can expect 2 or 3 days of light showers every month.

Passports & Visas

British citizens must have a valid passport to visit Thailand. By law, you must carry your passport with you at all times. British passport holders arriving by air may enter Thailand for 30 days without obtaining a visa in advance of arrival. For the most up-to-date passport and visa info, visit gov.uk/for…nts

Holidays to Phuket offer everything from sleepy beaches to wired party resorts. And it's this little-bit-of-everything approach that makes the island one of Thailand's most popular destinations.

Complete package Phuket
There are a lot of threads in Phuket’s tourism tapestry. The island is just off Thailand’s southwest coast and its capital, Phuket Town, is an animated city of early-morning markets and beeping tuk tuks. The shoreline, meanwhile, is home to a league of beaches – 40 kilometres’ worth to be exact. Some of the stretches of sand turn the tempo right down. All 11 kilometres of Mai Khao Beach are protected as part of the Sirinat National Park, so there are hardly any signs of life along its breadth.

Kamala Beach
Kamala Beach is another one that keeps itself to itself. The unspoilt sand here is accompanied by a village with Thai tradition at its heart. This is the place to come to learn local cookery or to experience an authentic Thai massage.

Patong Beach
At the other end of the scale you’ve got Patong Beach. Like all good sandpits, this place was made for playtime – it’s just footsteps away from a directory’s worth of bars and restaurants. After sunset, the main strip is closed to vehicles, and human traffic fills the streets, making U-turns in and out of bars and discos.

Kata and Karon
The middle ground is occupied by Kata and Karon. On these beaches sunloungers are spread out in Goldilocks fashion – there’s just the right amount – and snorkelling is the main watersport on offer. The beach scene is complemented by sand-side promenades, quirky souvenir shops and lively restaurants.

Been there a lot. And once for a month on a round the world 1 year trip in 2011.

I've had 68 baht to the £ in the past. But more like only 45 to the £ these days

Most recently me and my GF went there for a luxury trip over Christmas.

Great street food, night markets and people.

Definitely do a Thai cookery course on one of the first days you are there, to learn loads about the food and culture.

I use the Grab App now for taxis there, if I'm not getting the BTS Skytrain or MRT underground in Bangkok. In Phuket we just walked and used local buses.

The Blue Smart bus from the airport in Phuket is the cheap option at 100 baht.

Do some online research before you go. (edited)

Phuket is not Thailand. It's in Thailand ,but nothing to do with Thailand. It's like Benidorm or Lloret de mar in Spain. (edited)

Is it Thailand or not?! Make up your mind!

Been a few times and one place in particular is probably like that, but the rest of it is beautiful and some scenery you only see in movies... stunning place, cheap as houses, booked it, packed it....

Phuket is an absoulte dive to be fair, but £495 for a return flight to thailand is very good, just get a connecting flights or boat out of there when you land. Bargain, Heat.

That's like saying Mallorca.is an absolute dive, much if it is Arenal Magaluf and many other towns then you have Deia ,Fornalutx Port de Soller but not cheap. In Phuket you have nice areas Surin Kamala but don't expect cheap lux hotels like in Patong., luxury will cost you double or more, try the Aman or Surin Hotel. You wouldn't get 1 of those in Benidorm

It's a beautiful country but there are some seedy places such as Patong where you wouldn't want to take children (edited)

Well you could take your kids…& leave them there?

Great price but Phuket is very very expensive now compared to the rest of Thailand, and yes it is packed with Russians.

Hottest part of the year as well with temps currently approaching 40c (edited)

I believe in 2024 everything is very expensive, everything in regards to flights has gone up by a good £200-£300 if you ask me.

My Dubai flights alone is costing me over £800+ which used to be £400-£570
I think long gone are those days where were able to get CHEAP flights unless its a actual deal like this one!

Cracking deal. Due to work I had to book my flights a few months ago. Best I could do from Manchester was with Qatar via Doha to BKK, and that cost me £800.

The airport is in the north of the island si easy to access other areas such as Khao Lak and a bit further Krabi etc. if you don't fancy Phuket which in itself has many options from the hedonistic to peaceful and laid back.

I want to go in January next year, but not sure what price is considered good. I'd have thought £300 but this getting over 600 heat and being almost £500 is a bit worrying. Is this really a good deal?
    StaffyBear's avatar
I think you'll be lucky getting £300 return tbh.

Is anyone able to tell me from their experience where would be the best places for shopping?
jewellery, clothes or even investments ?

Blistering hot in late April, and starting the transition to the rainy season. Jan/Feb so much more pleasant
