sorted byApparently the most accessible entry, but missing features like tagteam. And the story feels weak and disjointed compared to early entries. The non-DLC costume unlock requirements are ridiculous.
Cool thing with Xbox One onwards is that it can be a mainline Dead or Alive/3D Ninja Gaiden machine as at least one version of each entry is playable via backwards compatibility, sometimes even with options of both the "best" and "lesser" versions playable like Ninja Gaiden with Black/Sigma and vanilla 2/sigma2
Amongst other things, it sucks that DoA 6 did the usual fighting game antics of re-selling older entries' DLC characters as additional DLC in this entry again - ie reselling Momiji, Nyotengu, Rachel (Mai is understandable as she's an SNK guest with licensing arrangements). Street Fighter also keeps doing this with Akuma, and undoubtedly Tekken 8 will do this with some T7 DLC newcomers. And the DLC roadmap feels seems to have been cut short as they only brought across one of several new characters from the beach volleyball spinoff's gacha sub-spinoff.
Decent game, accessible, but incomplete and plagued by dodgey business practices. Hopefully if Stellar Blade is successful, it could potentially pave the way for a DoA 7 or a franchise reboot.
Dead or Alive 4 (X360) - Awesome
Dead or Alive 5 (XBONE) - Very good, but DLC starting to mire the experience.
Dead or Alive 6 - A cut down version. Missing various series staples, such as tag team. Missing characters (mainly the male ones. Why have male characters when you can focus on the jugglies.). Full of predatory and expensive DLC. Uninspired stages, you can really see where they made cut backs.
Overall I played DOA6 quite a lot against a friend online, but I cannot really recommend it. The series has really gone downhill and I doubt we will see a sequel for some time, if at all. Its a shame, as this is my favourite fighting franchise, it never really got the recognition it deserved during its prime days. (edited)
