Compulsory Project Farm's review, in short the Milwaukee is not very good.

In short, the video shows the Milwaukee are good!
These videos are only a guide with the actual tool on the day. A different set from a different batch will show different results etc.

Only in one test did they perform average. That was the rotation grip test.
This is a compromise all grips have to make. Sacrifice grip strength for teeth life.
If the teeth wear out, they won't grip well after one or two uses any way etc.

I'm a trained plumber. These will perform just fine for most people.
Or like the video says, you can spend three times a much for slightly better performance. (edited)

Best Vise grips are Irwin, fully manufactured in USA and not using metal from different locations which was one step down before being entirely made of Chinese steel.

Irwin Vice Grip were the best 15 years ago…they have been made in China for a while now.

Malco Eagle bought the original Irwin Vice Grip factory and have been making their own (properly American made) vice grips for a while now, but they are about £70 a pair.

They were called Mole Grips when I was in the mechanical engineering trade years ago

Yep. That’s what everyone I know calls em.
I guess Milwaukee want to make theirs sound special

Heat for the discount but can anyone recommend a decent pair that grip well and don't snap open every time I try to put them away.

Am I the only person who (only) had these and some other cheap tat in my tool box? I must have tried to use these things for a variety of things - none of which they were probably designed for - but always just ended up losing grip. So considering their called whatever GRIPS me thinks the terms a tad misleading.

Yep. Destroyed many a nut and bolt with these when I was a kid. Still have them in my tool box but never use them.

I've always known them as vise grips, because that was the brand we used in the RAAF back in the early 80's (edited)
