Complete edition of the British television miniseries, a coming-of-age drama written by playwright Willy Russell and starring David Morrissey, in what was his first screen appearance. Billy (Morrissey) and Icky (Spencer Leigh) are two Liverpool teenagers. Sick of the unemployment, poverty and gang violence in their rundown city, the two boys decide to escape to a peaceful valley in Wales. However, they don't quite find the rural paradise they were expecting, and instead have to contend with the attentions of the sinister Kidder (James Hazeldine).

A hard-hitting series from award-winning dramatist Willy Russell, David Morrissey and Spencer Leigh play two deprived teenagers who go on the run to north Wales in an attempt to escape the desperation and turmoil that was early '80s Liverpool. Co-starring Ian Hart and James Hazeldine,

One Summer is presented here as a brand-new High Definition remaster from original film elements in its original fullscreen aspect ratio.

Billy and Icky, two fifteen-year-old dead-end kids, pin their hopes on a trip to the school's summer camp. When fate and bad luck scupper their plans, a small bingo win soon sees them boarding a train and heading for unknown territory.

Kind of sounds like "Withnail and I".

Sick of unemployment, poverty and squalor in Camden, two "resting" actors decide to escape to a peaceful valley in Cumbria. However, they don't quite find the rural paradise they were expecting, and instead have to contend with the attentions of flamboyant uncle Monty. (edited)

Thanks very much OP. I remember watching this when I was very young, I had no idea it had been released in Blu Ray.

Great series when it originally came out when I was 13-14. Not sure how I would enjoy it now though being older, and meant to be wiser.

Watched this when first shown on TV. Loved it then. I've had this on bluray for some time.
A brilliant series. David Morrissy is an outstanding actor and will always be Billy to me.
One of the greatest series you'll ever see (edited)

Any chance of finding a copy of Johnny Jarvis ?

Yeah! Another era-defining series! I also tend to bracket One Summer and Jarvis together, too.

Brilliant series, watched it on channel 4 in 1982 I think it came out, we were all glued to the TV every week to watch it, one of those defining youth shows that I never forget about, picked this DVD up a few years ago, thought it might be weird revisiting it, but it was still raw and powerful, thatchers 80s Britain

I think the work remastering it was by the (sadly now defunct) "Network". Dunno what will happen to all their intellectual property (they did hundreds of DVDs and Blurays). Probably be bought by a streaming company for distribution in quality.

I love old shows. Is this LGBT themed though? Serious question.

I'd say yes, but the views on homosexuality throughout the series are of that time (1980s) , the boys relationship appears more than just a friendship. I watched the whole series on dvd recently.
