Was about to order but after checking looks like replacement filters are discontinued. Might be difficult to find filters.

Yes, and a review on Amazon: Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 November 2023
Great machine but youcan never get a filter for it,therefore it's a waste of money.

It does state that the filters are back in stock on May 20th on the Technet website.

What is the power consumption like on units like this? In their different modes, neccessary to run 24/7, especially if someone has dust allergies?

Info says it has a 22W motor, so 528Whr ( according to my head maths ), so 0.5KWh, so about 13p for 24 hours.

We have a similar one. No issues getting filters but we don't buy new anyway, we just give the old one a good vacuum and works a treat. As a house of hay fever suffers, this has worked so well for lessening the effects on all of us.

Had one for a month now and own a cockatiel and this does a good job of cleaning the air of dander and dust. Just buy some electrostatic sheets from eBay which will preserve the life of the filter indefinitely

I too was thinking this would be redundant without the ability to get replacement filters but with the ES sheets this is a non factor. Cost of a filter on some machines are equivalent to this entire machine also… doesn’t justify it going to a landfill but just saying…

Firstly I do not know that 13 pence for 24 hours would put anyone off?
I am not so cocksure , so ran the question through chat GPT :-
Q= "if a 22 Watt motor runs for 24 hours, how much will it cost to run if the cost is 26 pence per KWh?"

A = To calculate the cost of running the motor for 24 hours, first, we need to find out how much energy it consumes in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

    Power (in kW) = 22 Watts / 1000 = 0.022 kW

Energy consumed (in kWh) = Power (in kW) × Time (in hours) = 0.022 kW × 24 hours = 0.528 kWh

Now, to find the cost, multiply the energy consumed (in kWh) by the cost per kWh:

    Cost = Energy consumed (in kWh) × Cost per kWh= 0.528 kWh × £0.26/kWh≈ £0.13728

So, it will cost approximately £0.13728 to run the 22W motor for 24 hours at a cost of 26 pence per kWh.

Would this reduce dust buildup in a room? Our bedroom seems to get a layer of dust on skirting boards etc within a few days of vacuuming/dusting
    M168's avatar
    Yes definitely reduces dust

Do not suffer from asthma or allergies or any respiratory problems, but bought it anyway. Cleaner air cannot be a bad thing?

As per helpful tips by Darthballs, I ordered 20 electrostatic sheets from aliexpress for a tenner. Just fitted one to the Teknet purifier and its running whisper quiet.
The sheets came with a narrow sticky tape down one end. Peeled this off and cut into 5 x 2 inch strips to secure the sheet around the filter cartridge. just rolled the cartridge around the sheet, taped tight, and cut off the hanging extra few inches with scissors. Years (hopefully) of cleaner air for 35 quid and a few pence per day running costs
