Makita DLM330RT 18v LXT Cordless Lawn Mower 330mm - 5.0 amp Battery and Charger - PLUS extra 5.0ah battery on rebate from Makita

This is a good price anyway, however Makita currently have a redemption offer that give you an extra 5.0ah battery as a rebate until 30th June.

Rebate details: makitauk.com/red…024

Considering two genuine 5.0ah batteries would cost £130, you're getting a mower and charger for £75.

Great deal IMO if you're already in the Maktia ecosystem.

Shame it's not 36v, but reviews are generally positive.

Edit: Before 23:59 on 15th April you can save a touch more buying from FFX on eBay: ebay.co.uk/itm…126 by stacking with eBay's 15% voucher (20% through app). FFX are a large Maktia stockist, so shouldn't have any issues with rebate.

How are these mowers, powered by no bigger battery than a power drill, like for cutting ? Assuming they have replaceable plastic blades rather than metal

I have this model and it's perfect for my size garden (75m² ish). The mower is very light to maneuver. Cut regularly and don't try to take too much height in one go. The collector is a bit small. I use less than half a 5Ah battery to strim and cut the lawn.

Also it has a replaceable metal blade! Overall strong recommend. (edited)

    Cheaper through eBay (£191) buyaparcelstore

It’s a shame there isn’t a Dewalt equivalent in this price bracket.

I’m already within the Dewalt battery ecosystem, and even with the inclusion of a battery, I’d much prefer to have one charger on the go on gardening days.

I’ve got a Dewalt hedge trimmer and blower/vac. But of course these are first world problems!

Be careful! You must buy the correct code numbered product as mentioned on the promotion list!
Some sellers may make up a similar deal but if that code isn't correct you won't get the extra battery.

I've got the mower, it's ok, cuts the grass well enough but don't let it get too long but even the can still cut just takes bit of time.
So easy without the cable or petrol engine.

Yep, used to have a corded flymo and having a cordless electric mower is great. No faff, works really well and takes about 15 minutes start to finish inc. some strimming using the same batteries. Not sure how good the 18v model is but the 2x18v model works really well.

If you have a big garden i'd advise against this. 33cm cutting area is about the smallest you can get, spend extra and get something wider if you value your time. 2 x 5Ah batteries is amazing and capable of cutting a big amount of grass but you'd not want to do it with this in my opinion.

These mowers any good running off a 18v battery?
    eccobeachy's avatar
I have the 38cm one which runs off 2 x 18v. It's ok but to be honest I have a worx one (also 2 x 18v) which is probably as good or better. I got my makita last year for £300 with 2 batteries plus 2 extra batteries on the redemption offer, as others have said here. But, it seems to be £330 this year, that's even using the 20% discount code via ebay from buyaparcel. And, please note that 2 x 18v model isn't on this years redemption offer as far as i can see. its only ONE battery machines this time. makitapromotions.co.uk/spr…ns/

Although this is a good deal (voted hot) you can often get the 36v one with charger and two batteries (+2 extra on redemption) for around 300, bringing the bare mower down to around £100, assuming you can sell the batteries for £50 each. I did, and appreciate the extra power when cutting long or wet grass.

How long does the battery take to fully charge?

This is a good deal but the "better" Makita mowers take dual batteries for 36v.

    or the 40v/64V versions

Great deal, ordered mine last week and have had the confirmation from Makita that the battery will be shipped in 45 days.

I have the larger version of this mower, it takes 2 batteries. It’s the best mower I’ve ever had… I have a large uneven garden, and this is much better than the several petrol mowers I’ve owned. Makita are the best at cordless tools, I’ve got their brushless hedge cutter and strimmer too. Love them all… they make the job easier than it was with petrol or cords.. I’ve tried Gtech and Makita are far superior

I bit the bullet and splashed out on the Makita DLM432 a month ago as I’m already invested in the battery system for other tools and it’s far surpassed all my expectations for my very unruly large lawn. Was really surprised how I could fly through the lawn compared to the corded one and Mountfield Petrol which was an all-mighty pain to get going.

Goddamn, I was umming and erring over which battery system to get into this weekend. I went Dewalt and immediately regret it!
  13. Jonb133's avatar
I've got the 36v mower, strimmer and hedge trimmer and a little blower and two 6ah batteries all enough to do the garden in one go without any cables.
So easy to get started and finished it was def one of my better buys.

Is there one that does stripes ?
    sp41700's avatar
I have just bought the big brother dlm432 and get stripes

18v not powerful enough if wet or medium long grass
    mutley1's avatar
what voltage do you need for that?
  17. ST30's avatar
need a small garden for a 18v one. I have the 36V with 2*5ah and a 70ft garden and needs another charge when long grass and damp. (edited)

Just checked and I've got the 36v one, I use 6ah batteries now but originally it came with 2 x 3ah and they were ok.
  19. fryitup's avatar
Decent price with 2x 5Ah batteries.
These mowers seem to be much more expensive than they used to be though.
    Jonb133's avatar
Had mine two years now, checked and it was £205 for the 36v model.

    Doesn’t look very powerful

got one from powertoolworld for about the same price on thursday. haven't used it yet so will see what the cutting powers like, i'm not expecting much but got to be easier to use and tidier than my flymo.

Tempted, I reckon this will be better than the likes of Einhell or Worx. The Metabo on here looks equivalent though, decisions, decisions!

A bit reluctant to move from corded to this, most battery powered garden tools that I had stopped charging after sitting in the shed for a couple of winters unused.
    DJ8's avatar
I've got makita batteries 10 years old and still fine.

Tried to order one tonight and they don’t deliver to ‘my area’.  I’m in N-E Scotland between two major cities (Inverness and Aberdeen)  Amazon and other companies don’t have a problem delivering here.  Ah, well!
