Why are the majority of tyre deals online for XL variant only?

Surely XL tyres are too stiff and heavy for normal cars because they're designed for heavy vehicles (electric SUVs, vans etc), and will cause a worse ride. I'm struggling to find standard tyres, everything seems to be reinforced/XL.
