I actually custom build M.2 coolers (with either a single 40mm or dual 40mm fan versions). I think I might have a few requests for them next year when gen5 prices drop (well, hopefully they drop).
Many current motherboard heatsinks struggle keeping gen5 drives cool.
Must remember to file a patent for my coolers... (edited)

I know a lot of companies do switch parts.
As long as performance/reliability is the same it's not a big deal, but some make huge differences (WD, Kingston and Crucial have all been guilty of that, among others). (edited)
