Best I could find on the 6TB drive at the moment, and due to the special offer it's almost £30 cheaper than the version with the smaller (128MB) cache on the Western Digital site.

Can't find it cheaper on any other reputable sites.

Optimised for Blue Iris or other CCTV/NVR/video recording devices.

In addition, possible 3.75-4% cash back with Quidco (quidco.com/wes…al/).

DESCRIPTION

Uncompromising Surveillance Storage

WD Purple drives are designed to meet the challenges of 24x7 video surveillance recording. These drives are engineered specifically for surveillance to help withstand the elevated heat fluctuations and equipment vibrations within NVR environments. An average desktop drive is built to run for only short intervals, not the harsh 24/7 always-on environment of a high-definition surveillance system. With WD Purple drives, you get reliable, surveillance-class storage that’s tested for compatibility in a wide range of security systems. Exclusive AllFrame™ technology helps reduce frame loss and improve overall video playback.

Industry-Leading Storage. Surveillance You Can Trust
Western Digital has provided surveillance-grade storage for more than a decade. With WD Purple surveillance storage, drives are engineered for high temperature, always-on surveillance systems so you can rely on quality video when you need it most. WD Purple delivers smart video storage that you can trust and are backed by a 3-year limited warranty

Western Digital's Exclusive AllFrame™ Technology
All WD Purple drives are equipped with AllFrame™ technology, which helps reduce video frame drops and improves video recording and playback.

Enhanced Workload Ratings
WD Purple drives feature a workload rating of up to 180TB/year2 - up to three times that of desktop drives - to handle the unique demands of mainstream video surveillance DVR and NVR systems.

Multiple Cameras, Multiple Streams
Modern recorders now support multiple video streams per camera. WD Purple drives support up to 64 single-stream HD cameras5. With so many options, you have the flexibility to upgrade or expand your security applications in the future.

Designed for Surveillance Solutions
With an MTBF of up to 1 million hours3, WD Purple drives are engineered for mainstream surveillance DVRs and NVRs that operate 24/7. With tarnish-resistant components7 and support in storage systems with more than eight drive bays4, WD Purple drives deliver reliable operation even in harsh environments.

Wide Compatibility. Seamless Integration
WD Purple hard drives are built with compatibility in mind, so you can quickly and seamlessly add capacity to your surveillance system. With a wide range of industry-leading enclosures and chipsets supported, you’re sure to find the DVR or NVR configuration that’s right for you.

Three-Year Limited Warranty
As an industry-leading hard drive manufacturer, Western Digital stands behind their surveillance storage solutions with a 3-year limited warranty6 included with every WD Purple drive.

I have 4 of these in my NAS, been running absolutely fine for the past 3 years. Yes, they are "optimized" for video recording(whatever that means) but at the end of the day they are just normal drives and work as such just fine(and they are cheaper than equivalent REDs so it seems like an easy choice).

I also have one in my desktop (as a secondary drive) as it were cheaper than a blue or green at the time.
There was a lot of scaremongering about how it's not suited for that use case but I've had no issues after several years and the drive still reports a healthy status.

I know it’s not the same before I get jumped on, but I paid £58 for a Toshiba S300 Surveillance 6TB from CEX with only 4 power cycles. Pretty sure that was SMR though, but it’s fine for storage.

Reolink NVR can access/have/wEver X2 HDD, so going with riskable with cex Toshiba as ok. Guessing it checks writes, this being the 20s.
    now you shared that/thx.
Reddit search said and photographed 6th works even though reolink say it's 2th max.
Trust me, if bad things happen that don't get deserved justice cos u cheaped out on cctv storage, bad wave of karma.
Thx again for what to check for.
Writing for self here, but Retire not up to 24/7 purchases made to 2/4 media feedrrs

thanks, had a £124 toshiba 6tb surv. in amazon basket, to put in the NVR.
To free up the 2tb it came with.
For music library that (who'd have thought it!) past 1tb when the Scottish rave fan's rave tape collection got uploaded.
Could shuffle current hdd content onto shcuked external sata drives, for max £effiency, but Life is short.
If this turns into free debate on tb storage, How much did the 6tb drive price drop down to if anyone knows, and
Do know that most like components got made better over time. Before anyone buys those re-furbd cheapo drives.
..Max thanks for posting, Never had a toshiba drive fail so still going them given the £difference now thought it through while typing & srry, won't Link: url looks long enough to trigger 'i trying to be naughty
