About this deal

I'm looking for something cheap for a secondary PC to experiment with (Linux, Connect to a TV that sort of thing) found this for about £5 cheaper than elsewhere.

Throw in a cheap H610M Motherboard for about £60 and find some cheap DDR4

Competitive pricing with AM4.

As said by sonnyuk619. The F Version has no built in graphics and will require an addition GPU

Keep in mind that this is the 12100F meaning it has no integrated graphics vs the non F. (edited)

If you want a cheap build you may need to reuse an existing GPU or avoid the F-variant entirely (edited)

Cheaper yes, completely different level of equipment and potential as a PC also yes!!!!

Interesting if you are considering a ACEMAGICIAN or similar SFF PC and just want something low cost

If you're thinking linux ( proxmox, truenas, docker , plex etc...) then the i3 is a great choice,... but with an iGPU (e.g. Intel UHD630 with QuickSync),... and they support ECC ram.. Even an older 9th gen i3-8100 can transcode 10+ 4k streams... Quicksync is amazing (and saves a PCI-E slot for GPU if Plex etc was plan). There's a great ARK portal with filters to find the CPU with features you want - here's Quicksync and ECC for example.
