    Is it really true that these don't work on push out windows? Seems strange as I would have thought most people in UK don't have sliding windows

    You need to seal the opening - which cannot be done with the rectangular foam strip that comes with it. There will be a big triangular hole at top and bottom, with a push out window. Oh, easy enough to improvise something. Get a sheet of Perspex big enough to cover the closed window space and cut a hole in it. Even a sheet of wood.

    Oh, the foam blocks that come with it don't work that well, even with sliding windows. YMMV. The closer the thing can be to the opening, the better - or the long output air pipe acts as a beautiful radiator and dumps a lot of heat back into the room.

    Heat added - or removed or something. If we do have a hot Summer, finding one of these is going to be a lot tougher.
    That "20 square metres" room is a joke. That's only if the ambient air temperature/humidity is high. If you have solar input as well, forget it. It's more for dropping the bedroom temperature and humidity at night time - if you can put up with the 70dBA (IIRC). If you need to cool a room in daytime, a portable is probably going to be a disappointment. Even a 12, let alone a 9.

    Yeah agreed. Ours is primarily for the bedroom to help us sleep during the summer. Chuck it on for 2-3 hours before we go to sleep and it brings the temperature down to a comfortable level (it easily gets to 30+ inside on a sunny day)
