You can also install ChromeOS Flex on an old laptop to give it a new lease of life.

got one from amazon last week for the same price. Im fairly happy with it so far, not had too much use. I was advised it wasnt too powerful, but i think it meets the needs of what basic tasks i will expect to do with it.

Agreed. I got one last Xmas and it works absolutely fine. I was worried about the low ram, but didn't need to

OK. Newbie question. I need to replace a small Windows laptop that was only used for the following:
    - Surfing the Web,
    - Writing simple MS Word docs and printing them out on a WiFi-connected printer,
    - Viewing photos.
    - Reading and writing docs and photos from/to a NAS drive on my home network.
    - Occasional video meetings.
Could I use a Chrome book for this, possibly using a recommended alternative to MS Word and possibly needing an external Web cam?
Can anyone give me a simple answer? Thanks.

This CPU is fine for single tasks, but don't expect good performance on a video call, then opening a heavy website.

Not bad. We paid 199 for this 18 months ago. Good for the kids and missus who use it for simple stuff. But you'll want something faster if you keep a lot of tabs open or do anything other than basic tasks. (edited)

Bought this last week. A decent offer - it's not the most powerful but it seems pretty good so far. Mostly going to be used for homework for one of the kids and it is more than up to that.

Seems good availability now for collection, at least in South East of the country.
