The hotel is steeped in history—it was built during the reign of King George III in 1779 and housed the Crown Jewels during World War I.
Afternoon tea is taken in the Chapel Restaurant, located in the former prison's atmospheric Gothic chapel.
The Bodmin Moor Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to stunning Cornish scenery and plenty of walking routes, is 20 minutes' drive from the hotel.

I stayed there recently, as a paying guest, a really impressive building, and the food is amazing , The prison museum next door is well worth a visit...

The Jail ‘Resort’ is a new transformation into the hotel and amenities etc and has done away with the once wonderful tour and walk you could do around the old jail.

Fair enough move with the times but Bodmin itself is a dump and I wouldn’t make a trip here especially to do this.

I say this and I live within a 20min drive and won’t be doing this. (edited)
