Brand new ... just over six months old ... very good customer of Amazon up until then but they weren't interested; I prefer other places to shop now.

Man, thats a lot of juice to keep the crypto mining malware running.

Was that sold as a brand new phone? Amazon shouldn't really allow any marketplace seller to leave until at least 1 year has passed since the sale of their last brand new item, so they can hold the seller accountable for warranty purposes..

Amazon are no better ... I bought a phone a few years back from a third party seller on Amazon UK and it failed after six months - long story short, the third party seller had disappeared and Amazon wiped their hands of the problem, so I probably would have better off with AliExpress because at least I might have been given a chance at sending it back but with Amazon I was merely fobbed off.

There is honestly no point in engaging with him. I don't know why people do it. He's a known idiot with nothing useful to say 90% of the time.

That flash sale just keeps on going! The phone has actually been as low as 106 quid recently and as much as 145. Got to time it right lol. A LOT of phone for the money, no Band 20 but has NFC. Camera gets v positive reviews. PS, yes, exact same phone!

You can't buy it at this price now - its £39+ at all sellers...

Do you know a granny or grandpa who might benefit from this mobile? Get a couple for them. Hand em out free at local old folks home. Tell them its a good chopping board too and its the in thing for a respectable oap to be seen with. Its my new i-blackview, what are you at it for?

Thanks for that. This one seems a good price compared to it's normal price, so I've added heat. However, based on that video, I think I'm going to go for the Soundcore Boost instead myself (ideally from a UK seller, so I don't have to wait so long for postage)

You can check sound quality and other tests at one reviewer YT Chanel:

All dodgy deals. Price too good to be true. With Aliexpress payment , you need to learn Chinese to talk with someone in China.

Aliexpress has its own delivery service which comes free but takes 2-3 months. So unless you pay extra you will not get it in reasonable time, plus you will be charged 20% uk tax. So the price you see on the top is misleading. Plus one of the items i left in my Aliexpress basket mysterically got bought by me the next day , without even pressing the 'buy', button. My bank called me for fraud in my Aliexpress linked account and blocked the transaction and cancelled the card and issued another. So I will definately stay away from Aliexpress.

Yes that's definitely the norm with regards to delivery, I don't know about the updates, but I'm sure some helpful member of the community can help, maybe @bitcoin5

@Mrswitch it says delivered in 38 to 43 days is that usually the norm with aliexpress as it doesnt give me any other option for delivery? also the boxes are open and rom flashed, will they still receive regular updates?

That was a brilliant deal for that price!

Mine is the 6gb/128gb model, not global as I'm not too fussed about band 20. It cost me £210 from gearbest before Christmas. I have the nationwide banking app installed and it runs fine, NFC and Google pay both work flawlessly

I can't speak for Ulefone, however they seem to be a vastly budget minded company, probably just using cast off components to build budget phones. For the detractors of Xiaomi phones though...I can see Xiaomi hitting the UK mainstream market within the next year. You will soon see them being sold on the UK high street, much in the same vein as Huawei, or OnePlus; who started out as a relative unknown and are now competing with the big dogs. I have bought a few Xiaomi for myself as well as family, and they are solid phones for the cost. They're wildly popular in China, so the quality and expectation of them is a lot higher than most of the other "weirdly-named" China phones. I also read recently that Xiaomi are considering buying the GoPro company, so it's not as if they're a fly-by-night outfit. They are big contenders in the tech market, and gaining more traction everyday.

I have this phone. Really good phone for the price but as metioned the specs are not as good as it is on the paper. But still much better than other phones on the market. The screen is really good and the battery does last 2-4 days depending on use. The camera is not that great but most of the chinese phones are the same. I haven't seen any software glitches so far. It runs pure android and promised to get latest android update. Only glitch I have seen is, when you restart your phone, the shortcuts rearranges itself. I have run many games but works really well. I suggest checking out videos on youtube for battery, camera and speed performance.

Yeh apparently They have got Stricter a few months ago , before it was random picking parcels,. Now they are taking time checking all or if not most of the parcels.

Ordered two of these the last time they were on offer and one arrived a couple of weeks later, after I collected from the post office with a £12.85 customs charge, and the other one has been in the UK since the 8th. Never had this with any of the stiff I've ordered from China before :/ Anyone else had any similar experiences lately?

In daylight the camera is fine, it's low light where it suffers.

Is this phone better than the Mix 2s? I am eyeing an upgrade and can't really justify paying more than £450 for a phone.

It's going to be a successful phone once Carphone etc get it and sell on PAYG/Sim Free. With the sim-free RRP being £349 I can see it for not much over £200 at carphone not long after release.

I was briefly tempted to get this but I'd rather pay the extra and get a UK warranty, plus I'd imagine you can probably sell off the Google Home Mini we're getting in the bundle deal here and get closer to this price at the end of it.

I've not had to use it before, so don't know the small print, but Ali phones usually say you can get a full refund if it's not received in 60 days.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 6GB 64GB S835 £309.52 @ Ali Express Store: Hong Kong Goldway
Found 9th AprFound 9th Apr

No, it's £345, we were discussing the 6/128GB mix 2. Keep up. :)

It's literally £285 on some of the first AliExpress sellers, and the new Mix 2s is on pre order so this is clearly gonna get cheaper over the next 2-3 weeks, why are people convinced this is a deal?

I'm with you that xiaomi are superb quality. It's a complex electronic item though so lots of room for premature failure. It's always going to be a bit of a gamble buying a no warranty phone. All the optimism and brand recognition in the world won't change that. (I really need to stop buying Xiaomi stuff! Got a bloody kettle on the way!)

I keep an eye on prices at the usual places, geekbuying, gearbest, Banggood, aliexpress and deals, there's more. :)

what are the chances of it failing? It's Xiaomi.

This is good but i wouldn't personally expose myself to more than a ton and half from china. Have some heat but if i see the need to upgrade which i don't the note 5 has my name on it when its under 150

"No band 20 so won't work on o2 network (giffgaff, tesco)" Appreciate the effort to mention this, but wrong on so many levels! 4G coverage will be worse on all UK networks, especially o2 & MVNOs, but they do have some non-800MHz 4G now.

Only £241 for the blue if you choose free standard delivery. I got my Mi5 from this same seller in only 12 days with standard delivery, no customs fees etc.

And as for warranty etc, you are paying FAR less for a phone with top spec, which IF it goes wrong, then use some of the money you saved in the first place.

I know people bang on about no band 20, but I get 4g on my MI6 ceramic on Plusnet which piggybacks on the EE network. No speed issues whatsoever.

Does this have Google apps/Play store pre installed?

From the seller regarding my original order from the shop in the opening post (currently 'cancelled'): Yes,the phone that you have ordered is Global Version. The Global version Redmi Note 5 supports the following networks: LTE:B1/3/4/5/7/8/20/38/40 WCDMA:B1/2/5/8 GSM:B2/3/5/8 Nano SIM slot+ Nano SIM/Mirco SD slot(Hybrid) Do you want to keep the order ? Regards. [name omitted] So, looks like it would have been absolutely fine (assuming Redmi Note 5 was a typo - if not, I'd better re-activate the order!).

Thanks. On the first page of the feedback, one of the buyers actually shows a photo with the bands, and it does include band 20. Various other buyers have confirmed band 20 also. I was just a bit put off because the aforementioned photo didn't display all of the bands I was used to seeing. Having said that, I very much doubt there is a version of the phone that supports band 20 and not all of the other bands, so unlikely to have been an issue ordering from the shop you have linked to. Just some other notes for other buyers in case it hasn't been pointed out already: - the shop linked to in the opening post currently only still has the blue version without extras (and blue is more expensive than gold, for example) - the 'standard' option (i.e., the boxed phone with no extras) actually comes with a transparent back cover, arguably making the Nillkin case redundant (depending on how good the Nillkin case is) - the Nillkin case with screen protector is cheaper ordered elsewhere anyway: I found it slightly cheaper myself in the link below, with the standard version still available in other colours, and feedback looked good so purchased from there.

All global versions should have full UK 4g bands don't know why this seller has no info but if you are after one this aliexpress seller has them with the bands listed in the highlights chart and slightly cheaper too £124.44 for gold and £133.03 for black link here

I've scanned this entire thread trying to find which bands this phone supports and can't find an answer (and a few people have asked). The listing on AliExpress doesn't appear to say. Can anyone who has actually received the phone confirm which bands it supports?

No, uses these batteries

Do they use AAA batteries?

They have a 2 position spring loaded switch in the bent arm part, that meets the door and is off until door is open. Light is a bit directional (like using a fixed torch in the cupboard) so don't know how that will look under a cupboard or how you would switch on/off. As a btb, I think it would be a better design if the switch part was part of the body not on a bent arm - but I suppose that's part of the hinge mounting. Well made and good enough light.

I had the same problem, in the end I used 3m sticky pads to fix mine to a hinge last week, seems to be working quite well so far.

I have a bag full of these and they don't fit anything apart from a bathroom cabinet and even that's a bit of a botch. The screws of the hinges are recessed and won't come out enough to screw through the plastic base of the light and if they did would make the hinge insecure. If I try another, I will just fit to the wood with self-tapping screws.

AliExpress, read the details carefully first, in the question section someone has said this "i think they are fake. no hard case and light doesn't work" I haven't checked the Banggood description but like the OP I've bought from them with no problems so far.
