No it will not let you record normal TV. To replace your skybox. You want something like a zgemma sat box. This one of eBay come with a free gift of 12 months IPTV and you can recorded on to a sd card your live TV via your sat dish. Any questions message me. Link lEbay
Got the box myself good box for what it is...but the Nvidia Shield is the way you to go have one myself also the best android box for streaming and fully supports all the top streaming apps Netflix, Prime etc gets updates regularly and you can play top game on it and you can sideload any apk out there
I gave up on android boxes because of the problems with the Netflix and Prime apps. Due to certification of certain chips being required for copy protection you are limited to SD on most no name boxes for Netflix and Prime. You're better off with a fire stick nowadays and side load apks direct from your phone to it.
I have something very similar, so don't quote me on this. It won't allow to record normal TV - because a. there is no build in tv tuner b. there is no hdmi IN port c. there isn't a hard drive to record your programs. I suppose you could get an external usb drive, find an android app that lets you watch TV, and then somehow save that tv to hard disk. Not convince that that method, and suspect that would be poor quality. "Good replacement for sky box" - I suppose if you get the right software, you can watch sky (either legally or not)
