Old AM4 platforms means this will be left behind in the future like for example skylake processors have been left behind on windows 11

And only 8 cores, poor deal compared to the 13th gen parts you can get now for similar money or even a ryzen 7000 for the amd fans

Don't get caught up in marketing overhype by some AMD fans online who love to push this old part

According to your own graph its among the top 6 gaming cpu's available today and within 5% average fps and 8% minimums of a cpu costing nearly twice as much and also requires more expensive motherboard, RAM and cooler. I can understand choosing AM5 for better upgrade options but that still comes at extra cost. If only interested in gaming performance per £ or already have a AM4 board and DDR4 its a very appealing option. (edited)

I got a 5600... Can still return to get one of these but it is hard to justify going from 130 to 310...

If you already get more frames than your monitor can display and don't notice any stutters then you're fine. If you need the extra cores for other workloads then the 5900X might be a better choice.

5800X3D only if you already have a bonkers GPU, play at 1440p+, and only game.

If you can still return it you're probably upgrading from an older CPU in which case the 5600 should be a huge jump already for that price. This will only be diminishing returns. Rather save the extra for something else...or just save it.

I kind of regret going for the 5900X over this.

    Playing at 3840x1600 with a 4090 on a 144Hz monitor.

Don't worry you have infinite money... you can just go 7900x

Upgraded from my 5800x to this brilliant for Microsoft Flight Sim it depends what game you play.
This has almost doubled my FPS
