Very nice gaming CPU, can't be overclocked per se but if you under volt it then you'll get more sustained boost on all cores. Perhaps 10 percent more performance is possible. That's a decent bump and you'll end up with even lower power consumption. Super efficient chip.

Can’t remember how much I undervolted mine by but it was the largest stable under volt I’ve ever done. Cpu rarely goes above 60’c.

It's not worth you upgrading your whole platform from AM4 to AM5 just to get a 7800X3D when the 5800X (5800X3D is better option because it's not far off 7800X3D performance in gaming) will play any game with the right GPU. Just wait for Ryzen 8000 series to get on AM5 and/or wait for LGA1851 to arrive from Intel. So 2024 is earliest to upgrade from a 5800X for gaming. Upgrade your GPU first if yours isn't good enough.

If you really need those extra frames sell the 5800X and get a 5800X3D and upgrade your GPU. The 5800X3D is an excellent gaming CPU and all you need for gaming. 5800X should do the job anyway. Don't upgrade for the sake of it, well that's my rule anyway

I bought for £35 more around a month ago, and that was a deal then. Dropping like a stone. Still not played a game on it

I bought for £370 used from CeX...
Though it didn't really cost me £370, traded a stack of junk/old parts for vouchers to cover the whole cost of the CPU and an RX 6700 XT for someone else, lol. (edited)
