    why isn’t this the deal?

Are these much better than the first version?

They sound much better, and the noise cancellation is significantly improved. I'd say they're around a 50% improvement on both fronts.

If you are a Costco member they are £222.99, then you get the excellent 5 year guarantee

Just phoned Costco, and it's a 2-year warranty, although oddly they are open to returns after that time (their words not mine). For the small amount extra than Amazon I think the extra year is piece of mind.

Is this a good deal? Honest question as need to get some for a birthday….seems decent! Not sure if she’d notice the difference between these and the non pro version though!

Still waiting for the USB C versions of these

i had some of these i sent them back, but they can not replace proper headphones, these are for discrete wearing when out and about, if you plan to wear them just around the house you can do much better.

Any over-head design will be far better, but you're correct that it's about the discretion. The sound quality and features are pretty much unmatched for the size of these though, assuming you're using an iOS device. They're rock solid.

Unless you are specifically wanting to stay in the Apple ecosystem, there are, in my opinion, better earbuds available for the price.

    Can you recommend some?

I have these 2nd gen AirPod Pro which are complete game changers compared standard AirPods. In no particular order:

    1. Sound quality much better
    2. Active noise cancellation great (better than my early Sony XM2 over ears)
    3. Volume control, play/pause, and track selection by pressing each earbud (phone can stay in pocket)
    4. Find lost earbuds and case using the Find My app. Independent tracking for each earbud and the case.

They even play nice with my Windows 10 laptop for sound up/down by only touching the buds and track selection on Spotify and YouTube play pause, etc.

Plus they work connected direct to my Panasonic OLED - including volume up/down on the buds (this will be TV dependant). (edited)

Had these when they came out, but they always fell out eventually no matter what sizes of insert I tried.
The Freebuds pro 2 are £99...anyone had them and can compare?!
  16. Hasn1244's avatar
Really thought they would have done a better price. They have been close to this before.

I believe these are among the very few in ear buds that can emulate 5.1 to a half decent level. Sadly I also hear you can only expect a 2 years lifespan.

We’ll just compared with the pro 1st gen and the sound is much better on the 2 gen. However I was expecting a better noise cancellation but inside I cant really notice any difference. I’ll be cutting lawn this weekend so will compare with first gen. I realise it’s extreme but I have to wear my MS surface 2s and they get sweaty so if I can wear these instead .. bonus! (edited)

Got mine yesterday - never spent so much on headphones before and usually get sub £20 ones, last ones being the Anker P2i.

First impression was wow - when I put them on, I thought my bedroom radio had gone off. Took the pods out and nope, was still playing. It was amazing! I really don't get how it works.

However, actual sound quality - well they're good, but I honestly can't say they are any better than the Anker earbuds. In fact, the Anker have better bass for sure.

I'm in a pickle now whether they are actually worth over £200 for the ANC alone. I just don't get why they are hyped so much for sound.

Anyone else been in the same boat? Something I'm missing? I tried turning the loud option off in settings as I read this can 'crush' the sound sometimes? I'm using Spotify in highest quality settings too. Mainly listen to metal/EDM with occassional pop/rock.
