Worth noting this isn't the M1 version, it the older A14 one. M1 is the 5th Gen.

Is it worth getting a Costco card if I’m never going to buy stuff in bulk?

I’m on my third year in a row of online membership and this is about the sixth thing I’ve bought.  Previously I had a 15” OLED laptop, KMix mixer, TV unit and I’ve saved a fortune

Our nearest store is about 50 miles away!

This or the 9th gen iPad for £329?

I hade to make this decision about a year ago. Decided to get the Air in the end, but only because I wanted to use it for note taking with the 2nd gen Pencil. Otherwise I would have definitely bought the regular iPad, which is better value for money in my opinion.

Personally anything without m1 m2 chip is an awful purchase!

Why?  We have had a 4th gen since it come out and it hasn’t struggled with anything but if I was throwing some heavy stuff at it I would have bought the Pro.  This is £250 cheaper than the 5th Gen Air and for the vast majority of people will be perfectly fine!

So can you sign up to Costco for about £33 and then buy this?

Is that still a good price?

What's the main difference between the Air and say the 2021 iPad (£320 Currys)? Is it up the iPad pecking order?

[Edit: confused this 4th gen Air with current M1 model. Biggest difference between the two is that the Air 4th Gen uses the A14 chip and has a USB C port, while the iPad 2021 uses the A13 chip and a Lightning port.

Between the two, the Currys deal is probably the better deal if you can deal with the Lightning port.] (edited)

    64gb is plenty...for storing mp3s
    mark9915's avatar
    Who stores stuff locally?

    Any case recommendations?

£130 extra for the 256GB version also available. There's no SD slot on these. Does anyone know if you can use an external NVME drive via USB? Any alternative/workaround to paying £130 extra for a relatively small amount of extra storage? I'm really tempted to ditch Android for tablets. But great deal and thanks for posting.

I believe you can, it has USB-C port so transfers are pretty straightforward.

    Does it have an ProMotion?
    MagicBoy's avatar
No, you need an iPad Pro for that.

This came up after Apple wanted £440 to repair my 2022 ipad air 4 which wasn't charging appaerntly a bend in it which is quite common. Ordered as its a nice machine,

Where did you buy your 2022 iPad Air?
  13. XxLJCJxX's avatar
Would expect it to be cheaper by now. Nonetheless, it's a good bit of kit, sure its not got the M series chip, but it's still very capable of normal everyday tasks. Should last me another 2 years before I contemplate upgrading

    Love my ipad air
screen is great along with the sound
I paid £499 for mine last year, which was cheap so this is a stonking deal!

64gb is a joke from apple tbh, borderline robbery
    rodman's avatar
Go pro then it starts from 128gb.
  16. Asimahmad's avatar
    This or the pro?
    Fahzz_'s avatar
For most people the air is good enough! If you want ProMotion (120Hz) and a few other better features then I would go with the pro. But the air is amazing for its price!
