A decent discount on Apple’s RRP. Looks to be a great spec if you need a little more power than an M1 mini, but less than a studio.

Sorry don’t agree in this case. This is a monster spec for video editing UHD content with native ProRes support and really fast graphics acceleration.

if you want a basic new Mac mini there’s one for around £650 that still wallops most Windows desktops.

I could be tempted away from Windows if Apple offered a 16GB/512MGB model at a decent price, but their 'upgrade' prices are just ridiculous.

Absolutely rinsing people for a few quid of DRAM/NAND.

Good find. Not a bad price.
My only slight niggle is that storage could be better. If the point of this is editing large media files (at least that is one use case) then 512 SSD seems a bit tight.

You can connect an external NVMe drive to one of the USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and get 10Gb/s bandwidth, which isn't the full bandwidth of typical NVMe but fast enough. All you need is an NVMe drive and a 10GB/s USB housing, the housing costs less than £20.

So tempted to get this, but I look at the price and think probably better of spending a bit more and getting the Mac Studio

That’s Apple’s little ploy. They’re very good at it.

For anyone with some techie know how and a yearning for that 'mac feeling' but like me double take on the price then check out 'Opencore'. A method to install Mac os onto a PC.

Too much hassle for average user tbh.
Not to mention apple goes fully arm.
