I stream nowadays because having multiple copies of accessible media has become a pain. 500GB of music on my phones SD card, if it has one? USB for the car, ripped CD's for the CD player? Another USB For the HiFI? What about phones now being without an SD-Card slot? Do I re-encode and compress my lossless audio to fit? You get my point.

I use my NAS either locally or remotely. Doing so is just changing the transport, not the codec. If I play a FLAC from my NAS on my phone in the toilets at KFC, the quality would be the same as sitting at home with a USB flash drive with the same FLAC inserted into my phone via OTG. If I want to play something on my HiFi, I load up BubbleUPnP, connect, browse my NAS library and fire away.

If only they included Bluetooth for added flexibility, would have happily used this as a small 2nd system

You could add your own for some money's. Not ideal but I'd use DLNA anyway.

This is a bargain if it fits your requirements

For those who use it, this is 'Roon Ready' according to the Arcam website.

I can't think of any other Roon endpoint & amp at anything like this price point, so a great deal for those looking for a low-cost Roon ready system. (edited)

What speakers are a bigger consideration though, I personally have no interest in Roon stuff, I use Tidal though. (edited)

Very cool find. Features are very limited but it comes if that all you need this is sick

For those of you who don't know Arcam, they are a serious hifi company. I have an Arcam SACD network streamer and amplifier. Had the previous versions and high end CD players etc in the past.

You buy this for sound quality, and not bluetooth.

100% correct sound quality is very important to Arcam. I used to be an electronics designer at Arcam many years ago and worked on many Alpha era products.

They are also based in the UK just north of Cambridge. (edited)

What's ideal speakers to pair these with?

No idea, whilst my Wharfdale Denton 80th speakers sound great with Arcam seperates they aren't the most efficient and are maybe too power hungry for this.

Have a look at "q acoustics" bookshelf speakers might be a decent match.
