ASICS Gel-Venture 8 Trail Running Shoes The Gel-Venture 8 running shoe is designed for the great outdoors. This versatile shoe is excellent for trail runs, light hiking or exploring a new city.

Breathable Mesh Upper A mesh upper encases each foot in a durable, breathable element of comfort. The porous mesh is extremely breathable, which allows cool air to efficiently circulate through the shoe; removing uncomfortable heat build-up, and creating a cool, healthy environment that your feet will thrive in.

Airflow and ventilation provide you with the ability to go further, and for longer, whilst being extremely comfortable.

The reduced overlays add durability, whilst remaining lightweight. The overlay reinforcements swathe the midfoot and forefoot to improve stability. This is finished with a lacing system, which gives you a complete lockdown down feel, anchoring you to the midsole, and reduces in-shoe slippage so that you can carry on your smooth transitions.

EVA Midsole A platform of EVA resides underfoot for lightweight, responsive cushioning. Generous, soft, and durable, it spares your joints as they strike down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces. Exceptionally lightweight, the EVA ensures long-lasting cushioning to keep you comfortable on long-distance days.

EVA is extremely firm, which will absorb shocks instantly and effectively, preventing them from causing any damage to the sole. The energy produced from this will also be returned, which will give you an added spring in their step. Embedded within this midsole platform is a Rearfoot GEL Cushioning System; implemented to attenuate shock, it spares your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces.

Trail Specific Outsole Keeping you firmly in control on the trails, the rubber outsole can form a solid connection with a wide range of different surfaces.

The rubber is also extremely durable and abrasion-resistant, which will protect itself over a long period of time, whilst maintaining its high level of performance. As well as this, re-engineered lugs in the outsole offer better traction on off-road surfaces.

The aggressive, multidirectional lugs offer unprecedented traction for running up and down hills so nothing can get in the way of you giving your ultimate performance.

Features

  • Mesh Uppers - Increase breathability.
  • Abrasion-Resistant Overlays - Swathe the foot in support and durability.
  • Traditional Lacing - Comfortable and secure lacing will allow you to find a firm fit.
  • Wider Forefoot - Increases comfort.
  • EVA midsole - Lightweight and resilient underfoot cushioning.
  • Rearfoot GEL Cushioning System - Attenuates shock during the impact phase and allows for a smooth transition to midstance.
  • Trail-specific outsole - Employs multi-directional lugs to supply reliable grip across multiple terrains.
  • Re-engineered Lugs - Digs into the ground for a strong grip on wet surfaces.
  • Drop - 10mm
  • Weight - 355 g

I bought last year, mesh came apart with little to no use compared to other running shoes I have put my asics shoes through. Looked online, many people had the exact same issue.

Contacted asics thinking they have a warranty and they can see always bought from them directly online. They took absolutely no responsibility, let alone be arsed to respond.

It was my last shoe from them and brand lost a customer.

Oh btw that's how I noticed they don't publish negative reviews on their website and ALL of their 5 star reviews are paid for - gave the shoes to the reviewer for free. ALL. (edited)

I get really good milage out of these usually over 400 miles a pair before using them as work shoes. But I have had other Asics fail early including their Ultra marathon shoes the Fujitrabuca which tends to rip on me in less distance than some of the more serious ultra marathons out there. I contacted Asics also once and they were awful with the warranty. Tried to claim it was only for unworn shoes. I told them straight that 70 miles out of a £130rrp shoe was a complete joke and they begrudgingly gave me 30% off my next purchase. I only buy these shoes on offer now and usually from sportsshoes.com as they warrantied another pair of Asics that failed with a full credit. I only keep buying Asics as it's one of the few brands I find are the right shape for my feet. (edited)

Good price for light hiking / trails but be warned these are not in any way waterproof

By the way I quite like the khaki/green and orange colour

    Do these really fit small?
    GrabbyFeet's avatar
I find they do at least half a size. The gel venture 9's have been released now and they are really small. I bought my usual size and after less than 5 miles I gave up and my son is enjoying them instead

ALL of these synthetic material "breathable" shoes are made in the same Far East factories for pennies. They have the same wear characteristics, which means buying the CHEAPEST shoe possible (to your visual design taste) and replacing often is the only strategy that makes sense- unless you are buying them as a fashion item.

They do NOT get better with increasing cost- for that you want actual real leather in the construction. Brand counts for nothing, save to sucker you out of more money.

Nothing like "leather" when you're running 🏃‍♂️

Found this video, thought it was an interesting watch. I appreciate it's the Gel-Venture 6 version there being taken apart and not the 8s but still

    Are we all being conned?

does that fit my overpronated feet?
I usually wear Asics 1160-2160 series.
    tek-monkey's avatar
I didn't think the 2160s were for overpronation? The 2000s are, but I thought the 2160s were more for comfort?

These run a little small, I can just about get away with wearing them in my usual UK 10 but then I have thin narrow feet
