Can you use this on sandstone?
    pc5020's avatar
Yes but I just use bleach as it does the same job and is much much cheaper. Just mix bleach with water at a ratio of about 1:3, use a hand pump sprayer. Mix it well as if it's thick bleach it may struggle to spray. I jet wash first (and only once) then spray the bleach/water mix on after. For the really tough little black spots it may take two to three applications of bleach. I wait maybe two hours between each application. The bleach works immediately unlike patio magic that may take weeks before you notice any improvement. 2L of bleach at Aldi is £1.29... (edited)

For a more cost effective solution(!), buy 5 litres of BAC50 off eBay then dilute 20:1. It’s the same stuff.

Can you recommend PPE to go with this. Face mask goggles and gloves etc

Anyone has links to the hypochlorite stuff.. On ebay i can see Calcium Hypochlorite... Is that the one and do we just spread the salt around? Tia

This is the stuff I used…

    liquipak-shoponline.co.uk/pro…888

This did a great job! If the area you need to treat is sloped it’s not ideal as it will run off quickly and is difficult to keep the area wet. The product states if the area dries it stops cleaning so not to be used when the suns beating down. Hope this helps

Brillannt stuff. It keeps my patio clean throughout the year. I havent needed to jet wash the slabs since I started using Patio magic

Sodium Hypochlorite aka Chlorine for pools etc is some really good stuff. Did my mums "pink" patio thats was full of moss and algae scrubbed it in with an old broom let it sit a while and jet washed it off.

Just call it bleach. That's what everyone knows it as

This stuff is useless and cheap for a reason if you need to clean slabs , bricks ,blocks get the acid based stuff double the price but if this doesn't work what's the point, your better off mixing bleach and water than this.

Hypochlorite is better and cheaper and lasts way longer…
    wellhellothere's avatar
Agree, can't seem to buy it cheap anymore though

This stuff is great but don't expect immediate results as it takes a number of weeks to make a big difference.
    DanMck's avatar
It takes about 10 days and some rain or a quick scrub with water for me

Had absolutely no expectations when I put this on to my buff patio slabs. Used no elbow grease and just used a garden sprayer. As mentioned used it during a seldom seen dry period. Took about a week to work but totally cleared green algae in the stones and they look great. Will power wash over the summer but was excellent as a first clean coming into spring/summer.

This okay for brick driveways, haven’t washed mine since it’s been laid, thinking to do this summer

I’ve not washed my block paved driveway for about 4 years - spread this in it left it a few days and it’s exactly the same. I’ve now jet washed it which worked fine.
  13. newbie68's avatar
The larger one is a bit better value

Can you use this on Indian paving stones?
    pc5020's avatar
    Yeah
  15. jaykaykay's avatar
    Any use for redbrick?
  16. angleseyman's avatar
    This or glyphosate ?
    laserface's avatar
If its for moss this, tried glyphosate and results were poor but glyphosate (i use Rosate 360) is good as a general weedkiller.
  17. Gazzie's avatar
I also agree this is useless. I suppose it reflects the price.

The feedback of "Wet and Forget" is hugely more positive - just a pity it costs a small fortune.

    Use a pressure washer

I buy this every year. It's amazing stuff. Mix it correct. It works perfectly and keeps my back patio moss free. I bout 5 liters last week amazon 16.99. Just keep in mind use this when no rain is expected over night.

I posted a deal for this last year. Was really impressive on my slabs.
  22. savemoney247's avatar
Does this get rid of black spots on garden slabs, not sure if the black spots are mould?
    robidoo99's avatar
I cleaned mine up recently using ElbowGrease (degreaser spray) and melamine magic cleaning sponge. If you leave the degreaser on 15 mins the slabs come up like new with very little effort (this was porcelain with years of leaf gunk that had left black spots, wouldn’t shift using brushes/normal sponge)
  23. twonkeydonkey's avatar
Brilliant stuff.... if its forecast rain anytime soon then wait... it needs a few dry days to work
  24. MrDobbs's avatar
Tried this product and found it a waste of time. Used sodium hypochlorite in the end which did a MUCH better job.
  25. rdann's avatar
I have virtually a full tub of this left, did not work for me.
  26. thewolf8u's avatar
TheRange do a version for £4.99 for twice the amount which makes it 3 times cheaper than this. It’s called Path, Patio and Decking Cleaner from Spear & Jackson.
  27. shahidali47's avatar
Can you use this on regular contrete slabs in the garden
  28. sjmleicester's avatar
I use a jet washer and a diluted solution of bleach. I give the York stone patio a good shrub with a yard brush to make sure the bleach covers evenly. Leave it half an hour then jet wash off. It seems to continue eating into the winter grime over the following days as well. Normally does the trick pretty well.

with an average of 4.2 out of 5 over 18k reviews, I'm surprised that most of the comments here are negative? I'm going to give this a try as the pressure washer was blasting out an alarming amount of jointing compound from my patio. (A problem I need to sort, but I'm hoping to put that job off another year by using something a little less aggressive than pressure washing in the meantime) (edited)
