Get full service cover for you & a partner for £57.28/year via our AutoAid* link. This has been a top pick for nearly two decades – it covers you and your spouse or live-in partner in any car you/they drive, including roadside recovery, home start and onward travel, plus mis-fuelling cover and help if you're stuck (for example, in snow/mud).

Though it's less good if you've an older car as there's a £25 call-out fee for cars aged 10+ years, and you pay around £20 more for the policy if your car's over 16 years old. We've great feedback for AutoAid, though it doesn't have its own recovery fleet (it notifies local recovery operators instead).

Been with autoaid for a few years. Over the last year had to use them five times 🙈🙈🙈. Every time they've been brilliant and very fair. Only once did I have to wait for two hours but that worked out okay for me as I was visiting my mum anyway. I highly recommend!

There is £16 cashback for AutoAid from Topcashback for new customers only. Not sure, if it will work when using above link to purchase breakdown cover.

I don't think it will work with this offer, as it is exclusive to MSE. Going via TCB is £63.64 less £16 = £47.64, but cashback isn't guaranteed. (edited)

Strange how over 16years old is more expensive. I feel an older car stands a much better chance of being "fixed" at roadside than the modern massively over complicated junk that is out there currently

An older car is more likely to break down, possibly multiple times.

We were with them for years and years, right from when they were really cheap. Haven't actually needed to use the service for at least a decade. Then last year they introduced the mandatory £25 per callout fee for vehicles over 10 years old, and our car is now over 10 years old. So it was bye bye to them for us. We have roadside and recovery cover up to 15 miles with our car insurance so I'm sticking with that for the moment, but I might get more comprehensive cover with GEM who we were with back in the day before AutoAid.

I am the same, haven't used them in a long time either, it was great at first, a no brainer then the price escalated, it's a shame, as it was good value, now it's a big chunk of money

Used to have the any vehicle personal cover, with recovery and home start with them, but then they got too expensive. Now have the same cover with rescue my car for around £50.

So they're not the same as Autoaid i.e. they do not expect you to pay for repair/tow & claim back the cost at a later date?

They just seem to be resellers of cover. And one of their assistance providers is listed as Emergency Assist who have an appalling reputation for poor quality service and trying to find any excuse to avoid actually providing assistance.

I saw this a couple of weeks ago. My contract with AutoAid expires 30.03.24 and I'm expecting the renewal quote to be around £64. I'm intending letting it expire and taking a new contract the following day. I hope they haven't changed it to having to wait a while before you are a new customer. (edited)

MSE have been recommending them for years.

I had no problems when I was with them (for years) but they were very spammy and kept calling me when I didn't renew.

Clubcard vouchers exchanged for RAC coverage has been my way of breakdown support more recently.

I got my renewal notice, up from £63.64 to £95.54:

    Last Years premium £ 63.64
    This Years premium £ 63.64
    Spouse Premium £ 10.00
16 yr+ Vehicle premium £ 21.90 *Optional: Click to remove.
    Total Payable £95.54

My car is nowhere near 16 years old, which they should know from the registration number, but the onus is on me to remove. I have logged in and opted not to renew, but will have to keep an eye on it. I definitely opted out of auto renewal, as I always do, when I took out the policy 2 years ago, but they still renewed it. Unfortunately, I was unwell at the time so didn't challenge it.

Odd how they don't give you all the obvious call out options, but more bundle a few of them in as standard in the documents: secure.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/doc…pdf (edited)
