What do people use as the shampoo or liquid cleaner in these carpet cleaners?
    thabiz's avatar
Cheapest option is Screwfix carpet shampoo. Either their own "no nonsense" brand or whatever they have on offer and in stock.

Would love to hear some opinions as well. Same price in Argos, by the way. (edited)

I bought this a week ago, very impressed. Simple to use, no attachment for stairs though.

i would choose a Bissell over a Vax had about 5 carpet washers now 3 Vax 2 Bissell our latest Bissell is the best we have had compact powerful and really quiet for a carpet cleaner this one amazon.co.uk/Bis…17f

this is alot more premium than the one on the deal

Bought this over the weekend. It's small and compact so easy to store. Downside is you find yourself constantly refilling the water. 2/3 tanks per room I'd say.

It's a very simple unit. Not much to appear to go wrong. Cleans well and gets hair and dust deep down in the carpet. Just narrow enough to do each tread on the stair case. Really happy with it. Excellent buy

Is there any carpet cleaner, refurbished or new, available for around £150 or less, that can realistically offer the performance and results comparable to a rug doctor and trustworthy home use reliability?.

Slug doctors and the vacs/bissells will just leave detergent in your carpets that will make re-soiling occur very quick due to the residue left behind. You will be forever cleaning (edited)

Any idea how to get rid of the gone off smell after the carpet has dried?
    andybuk99's avatar
And that just there is why these are just a gimmick. They dont extract enough dirt to provide a deep clean, they just leave the carpet wet and a musty damp smell will occur.
