Could I clean a sofa with this or would that be unpractical?

You could 100% clean a sofa with this but you need to make sure your sofa can be wet cleaned and the detergents provided aren't going to cause any damage ( high alkaline detergents can cause problems )

( I have been cleaning upholstery for twenty years - 9,000+ sofas cleaned )

Just remember " heat " is a gimmick and if you're not professional trained using heat can actually cause real problems when trying to remove protein based stains. For example if you had to remove some blood from a nosebleed, using heat would cook the blood baking it in, that's it then carpet ruined. Always flush protein based stains with water first before you do anything. Rule 101.

Its not really "heat" as such, simply the air discharge from the motor is routed at the bottom of the water tank. (edited)
