In need of a semi decent set of drill bits for home DIY this winter, very much a beginner, will these cut the mustard?

Going to be putting up shelves, and likely looking to run some cables through walls

If you want my advice just buy what you need and not a load of drills and bits you likely won't.
Buy some good quality drill bits in the size you intend to use and not only will they last longer, but the job will be much easier.

The Bosch blue drill bits I've found are good for the price and go through brick like butter.

Ah the old , throw in 10 million screw driver bits that hardly anybody uses, set.

Irrespective, a good deal if the drill bits are up to it. (edited)

I was tempted for a relative, but the parts look lower end? Take the adapter for screwdriver heads for example, all my bosch Pro stuff in the past was locking/quick release but this looks like a poundland special?

hummmm... only buy, if you need it for the odd quick job here and there... if you're intending to use it for anything more than that.... buy better! Buy cheap, buy multiple times! ;-) False economy often.

    What would you recommend?

So good they named it twice!

No, these are so professional you need to be a professional to use them.

This set albeit smaller seems heavily discounted?

Low end, but still worth £20. (edited)

Bought this when Costco carried stock few years back. Great little set, my go to accessory pack for all my run of the mill DIY jobs.

Good kit, mine has been through a new bathroom and plenty of DIY jobs.

    Its worth buying. (edited)

They go on and out of stock at this price. Grabbed last one a few weeks ago. Notn convinced it’s better quality than the green but my blow moulded case on the old one is broken and I keep losing bits

Looks like a great starter kit!

Just bought it but what is a nut setter?
    ashyt16turbo's avatar
Magnetic socket for use with a drill/driver I think.

Bought this set when it was on offer at Screwfix for the same price. It does seem well made and better than the standard Bosch green equivalent

Back upto £21.96 now anyway (edited)

    Still 19.95 for me.

can anyone recommend a battery-powered drill for casual DIY around the house?
    Ewen_Bruce's avatar
Any of the Parkside drills from Lidl will do the job

Bought this around 3 months ago for roughly the same price. Has done everything ive needed it to do around the house for normal DIY stuff. Been fine for putting up some things on brick outdoors and no problems for timber indoors. Some of the smaller bits are multiples which is ideal as they are the most frequently used incase any do blunt or break (which they havent yet).
