Never sure about plastic-ish boards... In my experience they get tatty and are bound to shed bits that will end up in your food.
Are you supposed to get new ones each year?
Or is there a healthier material?
Wood seems better, but who knows what it's been treated with. And you need to keep it dry.

I've worked in kitchens for 12 years now and it's always been plastic boards. They are very easy to clean etc.
They do get tatty and they were always replaced when necessary. Recently we have a subscription where the boards are rotated out and sanded or scraped down to a fresh surface. So you could do either of those ideas?
