Anyone else on an Indian YT Premium sub finding that they can’t install certain apps on the Chromecast? It kept saying device not supported for apps like Disney+ and Tidal, some other apps too. TikTok was apparently not available in my country! To test it I reset the device and signed in with a fresh new Google account and it lets me install all the mentioned apps. I can add other accounts as additional users so will do that with the account with the Indian sub. It’s a workaround but would rather sign in with my main account which has the YT sub

Can credit earned from Google rewards be used for this? If so, does it have to cover the full amount, or can you do part payment on credit + card payment?

Is this worth upgrading to if you already have a Chromecast ultra? I know this has an additional remote and hosts the Google TV os but wondering for the average person who doesn't game, will it really provide much of a benefit?

I googled this and my understanding is that this is a full smart TV UI android TV device that can be navigated with the remote. The Chromecast Ultra can only be used for casting.

So if you are only going to cast things from your phone, there doesn't seem to be a benefit, and some people say that the ultra is better for casting.

If you want to have the ability to browse a UI with the remote to select what to watch and use android TV apps, then this might be worth having.

It might be considered a sidegrade rather than an upgrade.

I personally have an Ultra and don't see a need for this.

I had an Nvidia shield android TV device but recently got rid of it, as I only really use the YouTube app on my TV and then use my Chromecast ultra the odd time for casting. Also I like the photo frame feature on the ultra that displays when I switch my TV on. (edited)

I was using Nvidia Shield till I upgraded to an LG Oled last year, now I just use the built in Web OS. Any advantage to upgrading to this?

Mostly watching iPlayer and channel 4 at the moment, occasional Rakuten film rentals.
