About the aspartame = cancer thing...

Alcohol is also a cancer risk, which nobody seems to have an issue with (the safe amount thing was thrown out the window by WHO back in 2018). The fingers go into people's ears followed by a "lalalala" with that one.

The full report isn't even out until July 14th, but the media couldn't wait to announce it and create a bit of fear. The JECFA (the WHO committee on additives) have always said since 1981, that you have to drink 12-36 cans a day of this stuff for it to have an impact. I doubt anyone manages that.

Obviously they may have found something different which we'll find out come July 14th, but given they only declared it a possible risk, I'm not too worried.

    Heated OP. (edited)

Last week 6 litres of Pepsi delivered to your door for £3, now this - great to see the sugar tax working out well, this state of affairs must really be improving public health! (Not knocking the deal OP, it’s good, too good.) (edited)

It's sugar free. Coke Zero uses sweeteners. So the sugar tax doesn't apply. (edited)

How bad are the actual sweeteners?

Likely bad to some effect but not as bad as sugar.

Sugar tax just another revenue generating scheme

Maybe, but I like it. Not because I like to get taxed, but making sugar alternative drinks and sweets wasnt worth a company’s time previously and they couldn’t sell the volumes for the price to be similar. Now they can and you see a lot of sugar free and no added sugar products.

They had this in my local Asda plus 2 for £3.50 so it worked out even better. I wasn't sure both deals would work so bought three for £5.50 with £3 added to my cashpot
