Do you reckon the cold brew bags are exactly the same as tea infusions? I’ll still buy the cold brew ones at the reduced price and pour hot water on them. The flavours are good. (lol)

postmang

Why is there a cold brew technique? Don't get hooked into marketing hype

saywhatnow

Thanks for the heads up, OP. Definitely going to be stocking up.

fijamish

Missed this, I'll take a look in my local. My daughter is not allowed anymore sweet drinks, dentist orders and she likes these teas. £5 for a bottle set. She will be happy.

Someone wrote a comment on my post for the starter pack, saying you’re not meant to do that due to bacteria. Here is the link to the comment. :) https://www.hotukdeals.com/comments/permalink/34713223

I don’t wish to be crude. But this stuff has a terrible laxative effect on me. I drink many other zero drinks with no issue, not sure why I have issues with this one.

whats aspartate which of the more popular brands use non aspartate sweeteners? thanks in advance 🙏

melted

If was the original full of sugar version it would probably keep for yonks, but I do believe the artificial sweeteners in it have a more limited shelf life. I've tried a can of zero coke that was way past its best before and had been stored in a car and it was pretty vile.

Dodge62

Ass? The animal? Or arse? Either way, I don't see how the taste is going to go off just because it's past the BBD.

ahenners

Because if it tastes like ass I'd rather pay a bit more

Dodge62

Why would that bother you? It's water, CO2 and a few chemicals. It's not going to go off. Worst case it might lose some of it's fizz several months after that date.

Mainly for convenience (can be dropped into any bottled water on the go). It is intended for people who can't wait for the hot brewed tea or infusion to cool down.

postmang

Why is there a cold brew technique then?

Loubou

Thanks for the info. :) I wasn’t aware of that. I assumed the dried ingredients would be the same and didn’t know about the bacteria side of it.

Marcsi80

You're not supposed to brew regular infusions and teas in cold water due to the naturally high bacterial load of dried ingredients. These need to be brewed in boiling or near boiling water to destroy bacteria. The ingredients going into cold brew have been subjected to an intensive heat treatment, which makes them suitable for cold water use.

Loubou

These don’t use hot water. You use cold water so it’s a more instant drink. I’ve not tried using cold water on regular fruit teabags though. They might actually be the same. :)

Wagonwheel

Thanks OP, picked up a few today. Not that it should make much difference but the reason they’re cheap is that they have relatively short Sept/Oct B.B. dates.

Gentle_Giant

This size was never originally meant for retail sales, only for samples of new products being tested; I worked for the company that developed them (Metal Box Ltd (deceased)) Every other sized soft drinks can on the planet uses technology I helped prototype back in the mid 1980's, but this size was considered too small, and too low volume to convert from the old ring pull top, to the new, smaller top. Best fun I ever had, sealing letters inside drinks cans, slapped a postage label on them and taking them to the Post Office, although I did go a little too far once; I sent a friend in the RAF some documents in a Royal Navy "2.2lb TNT acoustic depth charge" can; it made its way all through the Postal service successfully, then the RAF blew it up after the postie delivered it to the barracks. purerockchick

I remember a couple years ago it was 2 for 9 or 4.95 each so 3 would be 15. A 5 quid increase is ridiculous, even with the sugar tax. Plus the rich soda companies could easily absorb the cost themselves rather than put it onto the customer. The price of coke not the horrible diet stuff is shocking now.

konkywonky

Loving the drama (lol)

I've tried both the Peach and Wild Cherry (Normal Cherry Coke is amazing) and while they both add something to the flavor you still get the diet taste underneath.

midnightz

Agree! I wonder if the mango flavour masks the gross sweetener flavour though; I assume that's why they make so many different flavours of them

raverdave2k

I really wish they did all these flavoured versions in "normal" coke. Diet and Zero tastes nasty.
