Can't wait for the Costco fuel station in Leeds to open, hopefully just a few months away 🙏🏽

Is it going to be onsite or have they bought the jet station opposite

    Shell V power diesel @ £1.59
but fuel filter crystal clear after 3 years of use
and + 125 miles a tank compare to others
    monkeyhanger75's avatar
An additional 125 miles per tank? You are having a laugh. An additional 15 miles per tank at best, the gains don't add up to the additional costs or most people would be using it. Fuel is incredibly clean/pure these days, coming from the same few refineries, with the only difference being additive packs used for different customers. Shel V-power diesel used to be about 50% GTL synthetically derived, I don't think it's the case now.

Those additive packs don't make the fuel noticeably more calorific - Cetane boosters for diesel make the fuel a little more volatile for a marginally more complete burn and fewer particulates. We're talking gains of under 1% not in excess of 15%. On an absolutely filthy engine with partially blocked injectors, a fuel with decent detergents can do wonders to correct, that's not the same thing as routinely expecting an extra 125 miles per tank based on your fuel choice.

You'll probably spend £5 in fuel sitting in the queue unless you go first thing.

Went the other day to this store around Half 6 pm. Waited for around 5 mins. No problem at all (edited)

Normally go in just after 5am... No queues

    Agree..
Costco at Lakeside in Essex is absolute murder unless you go before 7am

Just a tip for queueing for fuel at Costco. The petrol station usually opens before and shuts after the warehouse closes. Usually by an hour. It’s a lot quieter during that time, usually no waiting or just a couple mins.

Just checked 5 Costco fuel stations Ive used in the past, they all open at 6.00am Monday to Friday.
A bit later on Saturday & Sunday.
Thurrock, is open around 5.30am to 5.45am most days as the guy opens up as soon as he gets there.
Click on your local and the fuel station for times.

Typical of my luck ... drove a diesel car for the past 5 years when diesel was 20p a litre more expensive than petrol. Recently changed to a petrol car and now the price is the same. Someone up there doesn't like me
    hyang6039's avatar
don't worry, when evryone else drive Electric vehicle, petrol will be cheap for you
  10. rfclee1988's avatar
And yet we continue to get bumped in Port Glasgow/Greenock by paying 1.44.9 for both petrol and diesel
    chicaneuk's avatar
I visited my folks on the east coast (north Norfolk) this week just gone and it was similarly ludicrous. The confusing thing is, about 4 years ago it used to be always cheaper out there than it was back home in the West Midlands.. not sure why it’s flipped this way) - presumably part of it is pure profiteering from
the holidaymakers hitting the area this time of year. (edited)

Great deal. Been this price in Oldham couple weeks now. 🏾
  12. gooner786's avatar
Morrisons has increased from 131 for petrol to 134 within two weeks 🤮🤮🤮🤮
    Dusty's avatar
Yeah, spotted that too. They didn't get my custom!
  13. Mutt08's avatar
50353993-LoSPO.jpgNot as competitive as they use to be, these prices are taken a few miles away from that Costco branch.
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Yep, just use your local instead of driving extra miles to Costco.
My local Sainsburys is 3p more than Costco, but saves a 30 mile round trip.

I filled up with diesel from Costco Coventry last week for £1.29. Sadly it has gone up this week to £1.30

£1.29.9 which is £1.30 so not bad! Now £1.31 still much better than any other forecourts! 🌞 (edited)

This won't last forever. Saudi Arabia will have seen to that.

We are getting massively ripped off in Poole, Dorset.

145.7p Petrol and 144.7p Diesel are the cheapest.

The stations locally are acting like a cartel.
  17. dickybow's avatar
How come at one point, diesel was 15p per litre more than petrol?
  18. cazsilver's avatar
I really wished the Croydon Costco had a petrol station
    dn1's avatar
Ditto. I've only been to 2 in this country but neither sell petrol. =\

Also the hot dog went down from £2 to £1.50

How is the premium fuel compared to shell v power. I think with the cheap fuel prices here I may have to get membership
    TokyoGhoul's avatar
Apparently... It's Esso supreme fuel at Costco. I've used both Shell V-Power diesel and Esso. Esso Synergy gets my vote even though its not a semi synthetic GTL (Gas To Liquid) derv like Shell... Just wish Cardiff would put a fuel station in! But I doubt it'll happen anytime in the next 5 years or so😔

How come petrol prices are coming (have come) down to pre-covid, pre-war level, but gaz and electricity aren't?
    matthewemmer's avatar
It’s probably more complicated than it needs to be but basically, gas spot prices (basically a gas price that changes daily) have come down substantially but most suppliers buy their gas years ahead on the futures market - which hasn’t dropped as much due to uncertainty around long term supply.

Most/All the suppliers using spot daily pricing to buy gas are the ones that kept going bust as they ended up facing the immediate price increase of 20-30x what it used to be but hadn’t hedged any gas at lower rates for the future. Bit of a risky long-term strategy.

OFGEM then does calculations based on all this data but it’s based on the past 3 months, future gas rates are still 3-4x what they were in August 2021.

Wow! Price for diesel near me in East Yorkshire range from £144.9 to £151.9
    Mutt08's avatar
I was up in Yorkshire last week & couldn't believe how expensive petrol was compared to back in Manchester.
  25. blackcoffee's avatar
Its funny how in most places petrol got stuck at £1.4, even when oil price is down to pre-war levels or even below that.
    Slick_uk's avatar
Also "funny" that fuel increases post Ukraine war have been used as reason to increase travel and food prices, now with diesel 60-70p cheaper per litre than the peak, you'd have thought things would be going the other way... :/
  26. Dpc4166's avatar
Have been finding cheaper at Morrisons and Sainsbury’s
  27. 7913249082's avatar
Why bother going to a place where you have to pay membership when this is the price at all the supermarkets anyway?
    Davidp87's avatar
    It’s 10p cheaper there than any supermarket…

    Unleaded £1.339
    Premium diesel £1.329
    - similar pricing in selected Sainsbury's in Cambridgeshire.

Not that I'm cynical, however... will isolated atypical pricing be factored into monthly Inflation index calculation..!??
