sorted byThe left and right speakers only put out high frequencies and the “sub-woofer” is the only thing driving the mids, sounds like a mono system most of the time. I could just about put up with the mono-ness and lack of bass for the price, but songs with intermittent high frequencies sound really weird because it’s like the song keeps switching between stereo and mono and it’s really annoying.
I thought my unit was faulty because it was really that bad. Took it back to Argos for a replacement, same problem… Ended up bunching the speakers together to eliminate that annoying effect, but sound only comes from one corner of the room now.
My ancient set of Creative T10 speakers, which go for about the same price, I find has better bass (not by much, mind) and doesn’t have the stupid mono-mids stereo-highs thing that these speakers have.
Not voted either way, just my 2p that might save someone else from disappointment. (edited)
Usb is barely enough to power a single small portable speaker never mind a proper 2.1 system
