Slightly cheaper with Peter Tyson (3rd party seller) if you choose that instead of Amazon. 5 year warranty on the product from Cuisinart, which is pretty exceptional these days.

I can personally vouch for the quality of the ice cream - and the low price for the equivalent of the expensive brands such as Häagen-Dazs.

Needs some commitment though - break-even point is after about 100 ice cream tubs.

Decent deal, but can sometimes drop even further (to just above 200). I actually had this machine in my kitchen from amazon warehouse (it is huge), but had to send it back because the compressor did not work. I like the recipe book for this, especially the simple recipes for sicilian gelato (custard based).

However, have since dug out my andrew james pre-freeze bowl (costs 30 GBP new), and I can attest that it makes all the recipes that this machine can including the gelato.

The only reason to shell out 250 and loose kitchen space to this machine imho is if you want to make ice cream more than once in a day or if your freezer does not reliably freeze to -20 or is too small to contain the pre freeze bowl. (edited)

That is a lot of money for what should be an irregular treat.
My freezer is too stacked with buying the lumps of reduced meat, topped with the Waitrose 20% Saturdays member scheme.
    Priorities.

With the price of a cone nowadays you wouldn't be long recouping your money

I bought one for less than £200. So I'm not too sure this is a great price but I don't have a time machine to lend you either. I bought December time so out of season for a better price maybe.

The device is large and heavy so you need to consider storage. The weight is also lob sided in case your buying it for granny and she is frail.

The end product is great though and you can pick your own ingredients so healthier than bought stuff with additives.

You can wip up something from a standing start in an hour so no messing to remember to freeze bowls etc.
