Diesel has been cheaper than petrol here for a couple of weeks now at least. Diesel has been 139.9, 138.9 and then dropped again to 136.9.
  2. J-xmas's avatar
I paid 161.9 today, which is the cheapest for miles around me
  3. Scott_Taylora0e's avatar
Cheaper than running an EV with the massive increases in KW price at EV chargers and average 37p / KW at home...ignoring some limited duration cheap rate offers
    michaelmsm's avatar
Assuming a diesel with 40mpg, it'd cost you 16p per mile at this price of diesel. Assuming an EV with 4 miles per kW, it'd cost you 9.25p per mile at 37p/kw

Paid 154 yesterday for Diesel. Still steep.

Random question off topic but are diesels about to die off? As in would you buy a diesel now or buying petrol/electric!
    FlyingLlama's avatar
I wouldn't be paid to own an electric car.

Diesel until they pry it from me.

    That's a great price
    us_agent2012's avatar
Funny how we think that now. Funny and sad. But you are right, it's the best price for a long time.

These prices just go to show how all the big supermarkets are profiteering and ripping us all off.
    Kermatt's avatar
They have been price gouging for 12 months or more now. They are also cashing in quite nicely on the cost of living malarkey by upping their prices across everything far in excess of the true rises, because the cost of living crisis is so deeply ingrained in peoples mindsets that they are quite happy to accept the price rises nowadays.

The excess profits they have been making on fuel is simply abhorrent, but people will continue to blame the oil companies solely because the supermarkets work hard with effective marketing to portray themselves as the hard done to, cuddly protectors of the people. (edited)

Why is my local tesco still charging £1.65 for diesel
    Stephen_petrou's avatar
    Because they are crooks
  8. ashyt16turbo's avatar
I wish I could pay that for diesel. I'm paying 1.59 and it's killing me.
I do 100 miles a day and I'm not even well paid.

The gov't gives subsidies and benefits for everything else if you're struggling, but if you're being crippled by fuel costs you're on your own. (edited)
    jamie15's avatar
The govt maintaining the fuel duty cut instead of prioritising other things is enough. I don't see why the govt should be subsidising petrol costs - pressuring companies to past on cost savings now prices are lower is another story. The real issue here is the companies being greedy

They have dropped for the past few months. Energy companies are making even more from us you now!

Weber ewe are it’s mainly 162to 168 for diesel went to wales last week and it’s 151 for diesel
  11. 10penceshort's avatar
20 miles from me, made the trip to top up when I was at about 1/8th of a tank left.

£1.61  is a good price for diesel locally, worth the trip.
    billyboyjones's avatar
Similar distrance to us. So we waited until we wanted a trip to North Wales. My mother also uses them for her heating oil as she lives nearer to D.A. Roberts.

March 2022 UKOil (Brent) hit nearly $140 per barrel. The price at the pumps had a quick push up...Mid March oil hit just over $70 per barrel. Price at the pumps has dropped about 15% lol. Its such an amazing hustle and at this time oil companies have had bumper profits.
    Kermatt's avatar
Not just the oil companies, the price at the pumps are set by the retailers, the supermarkets spent 6 months last year with their prices per litre inflated by 20-30p!
  13. bitsandpcsuk's avatar
Just goes to show how Diesel users are getting ripped off
    Kermatt's avatar
I don't even have a diesel and think it is absolutely abhorrently the pricing scam that is currently being practiced by the majority!

Good to see the transport secretary has really got a handle on this

    Great post rachelandgromit, heat given

Whilst this is still exorbitant prices at least the diesel / petrol relationship has been restored and it's showing the thieving buggers elsewhere for what they are; crooks.

    Well done Essar!

Doing deliveries out of Chester, passed this a couple of times this week, always a queue. Didn't think to share it on here, good shout.
  17. TristanDeCoonha's avatar
Even costco here is 147.9 for diesel
    ansonuk1's avatar
Costco Reading £1.399 unleaded not sure about diesel.
  18. smith2001uk's avatar
Ruddy 135.9 for petrol and 150.9 for diesel here. Our local stations all appear to have an 'issue' with dropping below 150p for diesel.
  19. DuncanBall's avatar
Wish it was this price in my local area
  20. paulde2007's avatar
Sad that this is a great price. But sign ofbthe times. Not long since it was about to breach £2 and only came down due to oil companies being given subsidies to make it affordable for the end user.
  21. gooner786's avatar
This is an amazing price for diesel. Shell is 1.60+!
  22. Stephen_petrou's avatar
    Quality that, well done essar
  23. tank86's avatar
Will be interesting to see how long it takes everyone else to price diesel lower than petrol now that diesel wholesale cost is actually lower than petrol. Bet it doesn't happen.
  24. xxbluedragonxx's avatar
    Don’t forget the headlight fluid!
  25. Mooney_70's avatar
More than 20p per litre more around my area. They really are taking us for a ride with these prices. Great to see diesel cheaper than petrol the last time I saw that was in the Isle of wight in 2015. Granted it was only a penny cheaper then but still... (edited)
  26. Mooney_70's avatar
I still think the supermarkets are keeping their prices high due to lower footfall in store. As shoppers tighten their belts and shop elsewhere.
    zakk992's avatar
I think it’s more to do with since Asda was sold from Walmart, they used to have a fixed price countrywide and were usually the lowest but since then they aren’t anymore (edited)
  27. Davidp87's avatar
    Profiteering is rampant.
  28. madtingsadting's avatar
On my way, only 200 miles away, proper worth it
  29. scottburnside's avatar
Just shows how most fuel stations are just cashing in
  30. Dolphin01's avatar
I was in Cornwall the other week. £1.59 unleaded near St Ives. Wadebridge 30 odd miles further up £ 1.42.
  31. raj-88's avatar
Wow, diesel is 20p cheaper than anywhere near me. That is a heck of a difference!
  32. colonelswag's avatar
fill up there every two weeks great prices 25 p more in my local area (edited)
  33. fishmaster's avatar
This station is almost 20 miles away from me. However it's 20p per litre more here so every 2 weeks I go here and fill up and just average out the cost it's still way cheaper than where I live.
  34. ansonuk1's avatar
The business to boycott is fuel racketeers EuroGarages run by the Issa brothers who also own Asda. When crude oil rises their pump prices immediately soar like a rocket when it falls their pump prices slowly drift down like a feather. (edited)
  35. QwertyTheKeyboardLegend's avatar
Can they deliver? Cracking price.. Its 155 here for diesel
  36. valueadd101's avatar
Petrol is £1.359 here, although have seen it as much as £1.479 down the road too.
  37. flex's avatar
Good grief! The cheapest in and around Dumfries is 143.9 for petrol and 156.9 for diesel. It’s been the same for over 3 weeks now. Never understood how they can charge more for diesel than the more refined petrol product.

Filled up this morning as garage around 10miles
From my house to be greeted with this …. Garage didn’t appear to be bothered about guy with about x10 20 litre Jerry cans . That’s was the second row of cans he had filled Garage are really friendly with fantastic staff . It’s about time that the others reduced there prices

Well for a start both the fuel station and the guy with the cans is breaking the law. Aside from the fact it's bang out of order.
You should report the garage. (edited)
