The USB ports output 2.4A 5V is perfect for digital devices such as tablet PC's like iPads, iPhones, Blackberry, Kindle, etc. The mains sockets remain available to power additional items such as a laptop or DVD player.     175W sounds very optimistic, but mayb ethey are talking input rather than output. Most cigarette socket sockets are 10A, so 120W continuous would be reasonable without fear of popping the fuse. Of course, in practice these are unlikley to have anything much better than 70-80% efficiency so under 100W out would seem more likley.
