Dyson or Shark? Mixture of carpets and hard floor. Needs to be corded. Thanks

Looks like a complete 360-degree about-turn by Dyson after once declaring No more corded Vacuums only cordless.

Shark must have filled the gap that was hurting Dyson (edited)

From memory they never said they would stop making corded vacuums just not design new ones. The one in this deal is a recycled design all they have done is upgrade the floor head so it now has anti hair tangle. A significant amount of Dyson customers must have ditched corded as Dyson no longer do repairs in your own home instead they only offer collect and return repairs.

I have a slightly older version of this and also a v12. This hoover is very powerful and useful for deep cleaning and thick carpets. The v12 is a quick light hoover. I use the v12 daily and the ball for weekly/monthly super cleans. Annoying you have to clean all the filters so regularly, and this hoover is a bit of a chore to empty properly, but I would recommend it

If you are going bagless, Dyson is good at filtration due to their patented cyclones. Also, unlike others, they do seem to have excellent service for their warranty such as coming out to your house if need be. Heat added for the 5 years.

This is a great deal and never seen this low before. For five years warranty it is absolutly worth it.

These look so flimsy these days, are they still any good?

My trusty DC33 is still going strong at ten years old, and is an absolute unit

I know, the price of Dysons is crazy expensive, a rip off for sure but kudos to their marketing dept.

I've been using a dyson light ball for the past 5 years or so and can't wait to get rid of it. Not sure how it compares to this one in terms of improvements but on the light ball, the exhaust filter regularly gets loose making a terrible whine like a sick dog, edge cleaning is non existent, emptying the container (same with all dysons I've had) is a messy job, very difficult to retrieve stuck objects, dont think it works that well as the vax carpet washer always picks up clumps of dust even after a thorough vacuum .....those are the main issues.

The DC33 was the best one I had but the clutch broke.

Mrs says to get a Henry but without a rotating brush I don't see the point for thick carpets.

Will look to get a Sebo next

Agreed. I wouldn't get a vacuum without a rotating brush. However, Henry does provide a floor head with a rotating brush and I would recommend you look at that before ruling a Henry out. Got mine that's well over 18 years old and it's still going strong. Been through hell and back for a household but still pulling its weight easily. Compared to my DC58 handheld which I can't wait for it to die before scrapping it as its a constant problem child from a blocked filter to a dodgy emptying bin seals to a troublesome rotating brush floor head which seems to grab hold onto hair consistently to the point where the brush stops rotating...

I've also got a shark but after my Dyson, I'm put off Cordless vacs altogether and prefer the simpler tried and tested corded Henry vacs. Simple. Bagged and effective. All that I wish they would do is make smaller compact versions for those that aren't so strong to carry them.
