I realise this is likely store specific and I can't find them at this price online, but I was just in the Asda Kingsway store and they seem to be clearing out these packs of AA batteries.
As far as I can tell it's purely because they are old style plastic blister packs, which are being replaced with cardboard only.
These are normally £6 (2 for £8). It looks like they were £1.50 but now only 59p.
I don't use that many so only grabbed a few packs, a good dozen or two packs left on the rail. (I realise there are only a few in the photo but they are over a 5-6 high column)
