Abarry29

Bought one for my daughter last year. Beware that there is a fault with the strap locking mechanism in the build quality. Whereby the release mechanism is too easily activated with push in buttons on the main strap connection link to the watch This results with the strap releasing with a very light press. Unfortunately the strap release button is near to the operation button for the smart watch. You can guess the rest.....! Yes my daughters has fell off many times luckily not broken when pressing what she thought was the operator button in error. Google it as it is a known fault. Michael kors replaced our watch with no proof of receipt simply saying it was a known issue on an early batch. Nope the fault still exists on the replacement. Hopefully they provide a design related fix and offer some kind deal for returns as it really is a stunning looking watch with great functionality otherwise. Also paid a lot less than this. If you don’t mind the normal gold then £208 on the watch shop. Or £230ish amazon. Rose gold is nicer though imo.

Worth considering the Intra-Matic Chrono too, I love that thing <3 . Posted a deal a few months back. I should have bought it at the time to be honest but, like yourself, I have also overspent ;(

coldpop

Agreed. I’m looking for 2019 purchases, as I’ve overspent this year, but that XWind and the Seastar are on my list now, cheers. (y)

midlifecrisisT

I really like the Seastar. Lovely looking piece. I’m a big fan of the Khaki Field Day Date, Officer Auto and the Khaki Chrono 😁 X Wind would be a great choice

coldpop

I’ve been very tempted by the Tissot Seastar this year, I’ve been buying a few too many lately, but I’d definitely like that. I don’t own a Hamilton, which one would have your recommendation? I do like the Khaki X Wind.

midlifecrisisT

Definitely. I’ve got the same movement in one of my Hamilton’s. Absolutely awesome movement. Keeps unbelievable time too (y)

Haha it’s Rotary they have been making watches since Rotary Watches Ltd was established at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895. By the 1920s family members Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss began importing Rotary watches to Britain, which was to become the company’s most successful market. Since 2014 it’s owned by a holding Company the Rhonda Quartz Swiss movement are solid, Rotary also make higher end “Dreyfuss” watches.

No worries. It's probably best that they didn't accept my clubcard vouchers, because I look back on the Black Bay now, two years later, and don't like it as much - especially as the 79220 at that time used a modified 2824-2. £2.5k seems a lot for that watch now. I'd still have one, of course...

AndyPr

No rudeness intended and I'm sorry if my post was misinterpreted. The rules must have changed since November last year as the manager of Goldsmiths did go away and check with head office before doing the deal. Shame really. Clubcard was great whilst it lasted. Apologies again if I appeared rude. never my intention. (y)

Tony. No ware near that. Less than 2 years. Bought it now from Frazier Hart

tonyspoons

My T-Touch Classic is coming up to 4 years now thanks to the sleep function, how long have yours lasted?

Stu412t

Good price for a great watch. I have owned a few Tissot watches and have noticed that the battery never lasts as long as other brands. Hasn’t stopped me buying them, just thought I would add some feedback. If you want the next battery to be installed whilst keeping it sealed then it’s not that cheap.

Cameron92

I have one Automatic, it was about £200. Purchased mainly for the brand. I think more generally unless you're loaded and don't mind the expense, there is no point in buying any seriously expensive watch. But Quartz are so basic, as long as you can get one you like the look of with a decent hardened mineral glass so its not going to scuff up overnight then no need to spend this much!

tonyspoons

How much would you be willing to spend on a mechanical movement where +/-30 seconds a day is considered acceptably 'accurate'? I got one for £86 (omg chinese!), so surely anything more than that is a waste of money? Or do you believe that all movements for Swiss Made automatics are rolled in the thighs of virgins and put together meticulously by elves in magical Swiss workshops? I personally think that this is a good price for what will be a very well made watch, that is classily styled with a Sapphire Crystal and 20bar water resistance. There are people out there that spend 4 figures on Tag Heuer quartz watches, they're the ones who need their heads checked.

I suggest you like The Ball Facebook page. They routinely do presale notifications where you will routinely get offers for tritium line watches for less than a grand. I've been tempted a few times. They use their own movements and the build quality looks great. Plus they're not very common, if that is important. Also the three coloured lume looks fantastic and is great if you like checking the time in bed!

Certainly true of the Alpinist, I paid about £100 for the Strapcode bracelet on mine and it now looks fantastic.

louiselouise

I watched (ha) a Youtube reviewer who said that Seiko put the care and effort into the case, rather than the bracelet or strap, of their watches (he was talking about the Alpinist), which I'd say is pretty true.

Loudmouth

It's a bit busy but otherwise pleasing to the eye

Auric_Goldfinger

Wear it around your waist? (shock)

voodooboard

With a steel-braceleted watch, the bracelet is part of the overall package. You judge it in it's entirety. Getting an aftermarket steel bracelet that fits between the lugs, matches the curve of the case and matches the aesthetic overall is difficult if not impossible. That's why it's important that the original one is high quality. The end-links let this one down. It's still a good watch, i'm just saying Seiko should stop with these folded links on watches of this price.

That makes no difference. Second hand you'd get £150 for the watch even with it due a service. It would then be the price of a service on top to grab it again at £300 plus you'd have a brand new watch again. Automatic watches under a few hundred are pretty disposal. Given the choice of paying £150 for a service Vs selling and paying £150 on top. I know what you're saying but unless it's sentimental it makes more sense to flip it and put the cost of the service in to getting a brand new watch. In fact the come up alot at £260 with codes so I'm most cases it's cheaper to sell it and buy a new one instead of service.

You seem to have forgotten that this watch has been bought at a bargain basement price, so it makes a lot of sense to have it serviced.

Nice watch but cost of a service is nearly the same price as the watch (about £140 with Hamilton). So makes more sense to flip it and buy new one each time. Which obviously feels a little odd (lol)

Have you ever been 50 meters deep?

crazylegs

I've had umpteen Casio watches over the years, all 50 metre water resistant, I've showered in em, washed up in em. swam in em, snorkelled in em and scuba'd in em and all of them have given years of service without a murmur, I know a lot of manufacturers quote other codswallop about what you should and shouldn't do, but thats just a cheap get out clause if you go near water and want to claim, its a terrible set of standards imo set by the watchmakers themselves If my watch says 50metres then I am going to test it to make sure I'm getting my moneys worth XD

Mike_HUKD

Yes because straps are glued on and not regularly changed.

Mike_HUKD

You just don't understand how watch depth ratings work. That's ok.

Nice watch, ticks a lot of boxes and good price. Hot deal!

darecy

I watched movement on yt, quite unusual. Thanks

TacticalTimbo

It’s hidden in the disc around the movement, otherwise it’s the same.

Lovely watch. I've tried it on and wears big. Bearing in mind I usually wear 42mm watches anyway... Very tempting at this price.

HaroFreestyler

I love my Seiko watches and this is a lovely watch. I must resist buying it!!!

TacticalTimbo

From Seiko; Case Size Thickness: 12.32㎜ Diameter: 44.6㎜ Not small, but not silly big.

Shinoke

Yeah, not that attractive. Very large it seems, and not titanium - so will notice. Would really like to get a titanium, WR100 metres, saphire crystal, world time watch. Saw some citizens but missed good deals, and their titanium watches lack the features typically, unless you spend silly money. I guess that's the trade off. But then I want to get a smart watch, and if I buy a smartwatch I'll wear that all time, and will cost around the same. Good deal though. Dunno how this compares to a Citizen eco drive. Imagine it's similar.

eatmorefish

Have a closer look at the watch face...you'll find the strength.

No clue on the comparisons between letter variants on the turtles or 007 models. I do know that my PADI Turtle holds phenomenal power reserve, especially compared to my old and battered Orange Monster and is far, far better than the Invicta Diver Pro - which is a lovely looking watch with a terrible power reserve! The Seiko Turtle is a gorgeous watch and pleasure to wear. It's heavy, solid, reliable and the bracelet easily on a par with my Breitling Colt for quality.

dezontk

4R36 and 7s26. I don't actually believe either can "hold" less power from J to K, I just feel like the Js (atleast the 3 variants I've had up against the 3'ks) have always built up a better power reserve, so whether by accuracy of construction / torque used etc, or by lubrications / oils. This was something I noticed before looking into it a bit more and a few others have mentioned the same online. Of course you could always argue that one watch will always be slightly different to the other and that it's not a large scale enough comparison to generalize. I always buy grey imports, with the K's just to get a feel and if I end up liking it then after a few months I will sell on ebay, even in used condition the money you claw back is crazy especially given how low grey import prices are, often breaking even on the resale / small profit. Then I'll purchase the J variant and keep in the collection forever. The resale for them is even crazier going from grey import to selling here.

johnieutah

Resisted for 2 days but just caved in. Don't forget Quidco! @TacticalTimbo How quick was delivery?

CaptainSpaulding

I must resist temptation to buy yet another watch lol

TacticalTimbo

I’m a fan of gold hands and indices; used sparingly, gold can enhance. Gold cases and bracelets on the other hand are too much, bit dell boy imo.

Agreed. My old G shock has been going for 5 years and is Still going now.

It really should have solar for this price.... and it especially needs solar for the power hungry twin sensor features.

I love really complex dials, but my bad eyesight says No! The hands and batons will have lume, I assume, which will help at night. Good as a collectable.

Received mine today but not happy. Badly packed for posting with DX - the worst courier ever. Outer Citizen box is dirty. Watch has no protective plastic on watch face, back or buckle. No tag. Worst yet is back of watch is badly scratched and dented. This is a used watch! Never again.

RadoslavIvanov

I don’t think this one is active anymore, when I click on the deal it’s showing a slightly different model with a metal strap.

StevieG72

Its really not. Look at Zeek. You select the 2 vouchers pay for them, then use them on the site. It would take 5 minutes to do start to finish.

sosen1327

do i need another watch? lol

That sounds Ike way too much hastle. Anyway bought for £314 earlier, that is open.

Are there real diamonds on this watch?

Blurigard

Love Rado watches. Their Balboa watch from the '70s looks amazing in a retro way these days and is made from Tungsten carbide. Just try scratching that! Makes stainless steel watches look feeble. The only downside is its fragility, but I digress.

Aza

Heat added for deal, I love Rado watches but i definitely don't need another! My favourite Rado NCC 101 automatic is about 45 years old, still keeps time and looks great.
