Escape from New York, I was watching this on TV a few years ago and my brother asked "what's this?", I told him it was the Metal Gear Solid movie and he watched half of the film believing it was!

If you pay £15 for a film on disc, you don’t expect to have to sit through a load of ads before you can watch it (I think Disney discs were the worst). I would end up ripping everything to Plex just to strip out the ads. iTunes doesn’t have that problem, or the hassle involved in using Plex...

Can't say I've ever noticed ads that you can't skip past.

They suddenly appear in the chart, so I click to check I own them and they are both available to buy. Check my purchased and they are in my library.Happening more and more often and is so frustrating. Not easy to remember what you have bought all the time 😡

It’s seems to be recently the studios localising the store IDs so the UK & US listings match, however I’ve just checked Pulp Fiction and it seems theres also been a change in studio ownership.
The previous listing in both the UK & US were under Lionsgate, whereas the current listing is now under Miramax.

What - the one with Fassbender doing a terrible Steve Jobs ? It was dreary and tedious. It was a monumental box office flop.
The movie "Jobs" with Ashton Kucher was FAR better - I didn't expect much but thoroughly enjoyed it. But with "Steve Jobs" I switched it off before half way through

The price point for the weekly 4K bargains does seem to have crept up from £2.99 and £3.99 to £4.99 and now £5.99 but with patience its possible to build up a great collection of digital for a fraction of the price of physical discs and given this is a deals site not a review site money saving is the objective.

It's known that streaming PQ and particularly SQ is worse than physical, but most of the strange reasons given by disc fans to justify to themselves overpaying are spurious. If you only have a handful of discs then I suppose you'll have time for extras - but in fact with digital various upgrades and additions appear after purchase quite often.

The actual problem with Blade Runner on digital is the PQ is poor with DV (lacks contrast), and in fact one of the worst Ive seen and a shame given what a good film it is.

Hang on, you can build up a collection of any format for a decent price if you have patience. The only big advantage that digital (more specifically iTunes) has, is that the studios are reluctantly doing free upgrades to 4K. Obviously you're not going to get that with physical. Also, how is it spurious to want to have the same options digitally, as you get on physical media? I have no bias towards physical or digital. I just want digital offerings to catch up. I have a much larger catalogue of digital films than I do physical ones. But there's no doubt that studios seem to offer a LOT more on their physical offerings. There's nothing spurious about wanting digital to offer more. I want to be able to get rid of my physical collection, not be stuck with parts of it because I simply can't get it on digital. (edited)

It's all very disheartening the troubles with digital movies. I feel like they have a long way to go yet. Thankfully I'm relatively new to buying digitally and haven't yet experienced any trouble with re-listed movies (knocks on wood).

One improvement I desperately want to see, is a way to organise your library. It's so frustrating that you can't for example, keep all of your Disney movies together, or Marvel, James Bond, etc. Even the Nolan Batman trilogy don't appear together. Kind of frustrating and it seems like it would be something so simple to implement.

You pay for slightly better visual but vastly superior sound. The difference is night and day. I buy both formats but for the movies I watch over and over and want that cinematic impact I always buy physical.

it is nice that quite a few old digital copies I added about 10 years ago like Scarface, Home Alone, Jurassic Park trilogy and Inception are all 4K.
  36. jak22's avatar
When my blu-ray player fails or I get one of the new consoles I might get UHD discs for a few of the best films, but as a long-term strategy for 4K viewing it doesnt make sense even with the better audio - you'll be able to afford only a quarter as many films that way compared with Itunes etc

No one watches a UHD film all day every day so even disc fans have to manage with HD or even SD for most viewing - streamed 4K is a big improvement for many people. (edited)
