Does this work with PC/Mac as a webcam?
    OfficiallyUK's avatar
No, it won't work on modern OS's as the driver was 32bit/x86 only. So unless you planning on using on something with 32bit/x86 (very, very unlikely), its a no.

As others have said brings back SOO many good memories. Big sis first introduced me to this at Dixons (yeah remember them?) and was intrigued when I saw various people doing weird moves and near high jump kicks. Eyetoy Play was a blast for us and wasted so much time doing silly shenanigans

I always thought Sony had an ace up their sleeve with this one. Consider this was roughly a full 3 years before Nintendo went full throttle with motion control and...well the sales spoke for themselves with the Wii. I definetely feel with the right motivation, push from talented devs, a stronger marketing campaign and the graphical prowess at the time this could have truly been something special.

Instead we essentially got both companies (Microsoft included) playing catch up in awe of those Ninten profits. Shame that

So how are people using the PS2 on the 'NEW' Non-CRT TVs? OSSC?
My new TV does not even have a Scart or an AV connector (because it would double the overall thickness I assume )
    jayuk666's avatar
You can buy HDMI adaptor cables. Cheap upscale adapters OR go all out with an OSSC (lower end or higher end)

I run several retro consoles via RGB Scart cables on a Scart Auto Switcher hooked up to a RetroTink 5X Pro then HDMI to the 4K TV. Excessive. Expensive. But I love it.

£2 for the PS3 eyetoy - much better camera and has stereo audio capture too!

Also good as a cheap astronomy camera. Just take the casing off, remove the ir filter and screw in an adapter. Can do 10 seconds long exposures

I wouldn't take one if you paid me 50p

Brilliant, I've recently dug out my old PS2 and introduced the kids to it. Found a couple of the Eye toy games also but no Eye toy. Thanks very much!

Looks like they don't accept PayPal no more.
    ScrewYou's avatar
    They stopped PayPal before Christmas.

Shame really as I can’t afford to pay outright for this today so was hoping to spread the cost over the next 3 months

I already have one, I don't need one, but there is one in stock in my local store and for that reason alone (because it's the first time anything from CeX has been in stock in my local store) I am going to buy it!
    Radec's avatar
Maybe the times you have been after something but unfortunately no stock available near you was because someone else bought it purely for this exact same pointless reason. (edited)

Cracking deal, let me fire up the delorean and bring this back to 2004. I'm going to make a fortune reselling them. Heat

Scalpers should be banned from purchasing retro games. Killing the market for the rest of us.

    Magsafe compatible?
    Graham_Morrison's avatar
Indeed. It is also WiFi 6 compatible.

Honestly had more fun playing with one of these back in the day than the Xbox One's Kinect.
    aLV426's avatar
The Kinect was a nightmare to calibrate - whereas the Eyetoy was a lot more fun, however most game where a lot simpler.
I still have my Kinects - 8 of them, I also have the Xbox cameras, 2 Xbox One Kinects, about 10 x PS2 Eyetoys and about a dozen PS3 Eyetoys. I also have several camera based games that never got out of the box - everything from Animal pets to the Wizards spell book!

    Good find op!

Also remember you can always swap in 50x dvds and get this for nothing

I had some brilliant times with this back in the day!!
  21. L33TL33's avatar
Why are there so many people complaining on this?. People still play classic games the same way they still listen to classic music. Eye toy is still just as useable now as it was when it was released

Wow there's actually 10 in stock within travelling distance in my surrounding area what a shame I have a silver ps2
  23. FrAz279's avatar
will it work on my 8k TV?
  24. AnkerMan's avatar
Do you play with your feet? 😜
    N4_Scholefield's avatar
You could, just need to angle the camera right

Reliving my PS2 days with Eyetoy.

    1. Buy EyeToy
    2. Play it briefly
    3. Realise its rubbish
    4. Put it in a draw.
    5. Try to use as a terrible webcam
    6. Put it in loft

Wait a minute, it is still in my loft. Well, I think I will leave it there.

I used to work in Toys R Us when this launched. I worked in the games section, so most of the time waiting for customers was spent cleaning windows. Still got the promo t-shirt they sent out for it. Its a face with two controller slots for eyes and the controllers heading to be plugged in.

Memory unlocked, but was quite a gimmick even back then, can't see it being enjoyable these days
  31. joshuamfawcett's avatar
I had half a dozen of these from when Game sold them at 50p years ago when the PS3 was newly released. They were decent alternatives to a webcam back in the day, especially at the price. I’d not do that these days though lol.
  32. cattypat's avatar
The original Kinect when motion control was still cool.
  33. lucas.chatterton's avatar
Can this work on the PS5 as a microphone?
    Haircut_100's avatar
Can't say for certain about this and the PS5 but I remember I used to use the PS3 Eyetoy as a mic for my PS4. I think my gaming buddies were glad when I got an actual headset mic as they said the Eyetoy sound wasn't the best for sound compared to a dedicated mic for vocal chat.
