That 3x boost is a god send.

Note to all those who play this and i'll try not to spoil it. If you are achievement/trophy hunting don't go into the big cube with your aircraft (it will make sense when you get there). After this point there is no going back to other towns.

Still my favorite FF game to date.

Reminds me of my sister playing back in the day. She didn't grind anything, seemingly OK since the game had level scaling. Except at this point was facing down final boss at level 20 who cast meteor and ultima which wiped out a low hp party with no counter. You couldn't escape the zone to the open world and all the monsters you could grind inside only gave 1xp. Pretty much bricked her playthrough and she never finished it.

Considering Square Enix lost the source code, it's a pretty good port. Also an excellent game with an underrated story for a main series FF

I replayed it 4 years ago for the 20th anniversary and the first time since release. I did it properly this time too by card modding and finished the game near enough 100% with my entire party between a very low level 10 to 12. Definitely not as good as I remembered it, but largely because the dialogue is simply abysmal. Having said that it’s got really memorable locations, the Laguna Loire flashbacks and the soundtrack is the best in the series & probably any game ever for me. You can let it off for not being as good as the other 2 in the PS1 trilogy because it was made by the B team sandwiched in between 7 and 9. (edited)
