The price of LiFePo4 batteries and indeed server rack batteries are coming down nicely. Add an all-in-one inverter and you have a decent plug and play system. It's also good to see user-serviceable units, making it easy to self-service faulty components (with the guidance of the manufacturer) without the need to return the unit to base.

Good time to jump on to the renewable energy boat without spending a fortune.

I'd love to bite but I already have my own solar setup. Heat added (edited)

    Cheers

I've got 4kWp of solar panels/hybrid solis inverter being installed in the next month. I was putting off batteries until later, as it didn't seem cost effective going through the installer.

Someone told me about this company and thought I'd go for it. Was torn between this and their 15kWh solar battery (other deal). Think this is more suited for me at the moment.

I'm trying to understand what this product is.

With this you would wire to your home and charge at night on cheap electric and then run your home (3 bed house) on it during the day?

I'm assuming an electrician would need to wire it in?
When the battery runs out, your home would continue to use mains electric as normal?

or is this a product that charges purely on dc solar and then discharges it through your solar inverter to your home at night?

This battery would be connected to a hybrid solar inverter.

The inverter will monitor home electrical usage via a CT clamp and will discharge the amount of energy needed from the batteries into the home and load match the demand.

So yes, you can force charge these batteries with cheap overnight energy like I do at 7.5p/kWh which is roughly 3-4 times cheaper than the standard electrical rate.

Couple that with some solar panels connected to the hybrid inverter (solar panels are now at an all time low price) and you can be self sufficient for a good proportion of the year if you have a decent sized solar system.

    I have 14 x 400w panels and produce roughly 5500kWh every year.

I also get paid 15p/kWh for any electric I export to the gird by my energy company.

It's a no brainer in my eyes if you can afford the few thousand pounds to install it. Your looking at roughly a 6-10 year payback depending on your situation and system setup.

Can anyone recommend some learning materials for a solar setup? Thinking of taking the leap but need to be sure it could keep up with my energy consumption

Ignore 90% of what you read on this deals comments, most posters ain't got a clue.

This is incredible. Most households could power their house over day with 2 of these. If you could charge them cheap at night or solar..

It is great value. I paid a grand for each of my fox 2.6KWh units. I have 4 and as you say mostly enough to power the house all day on force charge overnight at 7.5p Octopus and topped up with solar during the day saving even most of that on sunny days

    100ah, not very big.
    campers's avatar
Yes, it's smaller than a 110ah one but bigger than a 90ah one (edited)

There is a wall mounting case available also with 5% off at £28.50 that I went for (edited)

Indeed. I got a similar battery a little bit over 2 years ago, installed for 2000£. And it was a bargain (edited)

Fogstar used to sell rewrapped Chinese vape batteries, now they seem to be a rather significant outfit.

eh? the last time I bought, they were selling LG and SAMSUNG ones. But this was couple of years ago.

Connecting to an inverter for solar energy storage or just to an inverter to store cheaper off peak rates.

How much would an inverter cost and an electrician(i assume ones needed?) to install it?

And if an electrician is needed to install it all I assume you can just add a second one on top of this one yourself at least? Since they can be daisy chained and work as one. Might be worth trying 1 out at first and then getting another if needed, or get 2 for now and add another one yourself, etc.

Also wanting to know this, considering getting the battery /inverter set up before getting a solar system to just get cheaper electric

Did HWSUK get paid recently to list fogstar stuff or something?

I wish there is a power storage system to plug in directly to a wall socket
    Alex_H's avatar
There are loads of smaller ones you'd easily be able to charge from a three pin plug.

I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit a Pylontech + Solax system. I wouldn't mind the additional capacity
  14. DealHunted1988's avatar
Are you able to stack these with Pylontech batteries?

    Seemingly no
