Not going to knock something that’s free, but an obvious hook to get you in to upsell and get your details - plus not too sure you could classify setting up an MOT reminder as a ‘check’….

Other than the battery health check, if you can’t check the rest look ok or are working yourself you shouldn’t really be taking a vehicle on the road!

Make sure you have a dash cam and it is not switched off.. they tend to take the car for a 20 miles test drive and ruin your car!

If you have an old spare smartphone stash it somewhere it in the car and then use Google maps to check the phones/cars location history.

Iam probably the onlyone who is going to Halfords for MOT, haven't had any issues, guess depends on the garage.

Recently we bought a car that needed a new battery immediately. So we drove it straight to Halfords and paid them extra to install it. After removing the old one the guy said removing it was too difficult and he refused to install the new one. We were not impressed.
