HOT deal for me as its £20 or £30 cheaper than anywhere else.

However, some members on this site will vote down GPU deals unless they cost £4.63 or below.

Not really, we're just sensible and don't buy rashly

3080 performance for 529 when you can buy a used one for 425....

Starting £440 at CEX. 2GB less VRAM though and 320w vs 200w.

No such thing as a 40-series good deal.

Ngreedia could have made 24GB versions of the 4070 family for VERY little extra money (RAM prices are at an historic rock bottom), but won't cos you could then use them for LLM AI. The point is, at 24GB one could justify buying them vastly more than at 12GB, which is a terrible amount of RAM above 400 quid.

Today both AMD and Ngreedia are pricing more on RAM amount than GPU chip performance, which is crazy since neither designs RAM, and RAM is so very cheap at this time.

You continually talk about stuff you dont understand. It would not have cost 'very little' to add an extra 12GB of RAM. It would require SIX more 2GB GDDR6 modules, not to mention designing and manufacturing a whole new PCB to implement the clamshell configuration this would require, not to mention the extra concerns that the cooling and all that has to take into consideration for the whole graphics card. It's not a simple thing to do.

Also no, 12GB is a reasonable amount of RAM. It's 8GB that has become a problem.

There's so many valid ways to criticize Nvidia and whatnot, and you continually choose to push invalid arguments instead. It's so needless. (edited)

Never heard of this brand, but it's owned by Palit so well cheap it should be acceptable.

Apparently they have all but stopped making GPUs, so I expect these to slowly get more expensive again.

Smokes a 4060 Ti 16GB, but that is already £100 more than it should be. This 4070 should be £450.

Hmm... should I get this or PS5 and keep my 1080 lol:)
    Seanspeed's avatar
Buying any 40 series GPU(or any non-heavily discounted 30 series part) should be a no-go in any case.

I'd say the only reasonable options here are: an RDNA2 GPU(while supplies last), a PS5, or get nothing and just wait.

I'm choosing wait, personally. We're only now getting 'next gen' games coming out for PS5, and $70 a pop stings. Waiting will mean more games are available once you do buy, and at more discounted prices. Plus, well, I hate the current PS5's size and looks.

And as much as my GTX1070 is 'outdated' in terms of playing new releases, I've still got a huge backlog of games to get around to that my 1070 is more than adequate for. This is also helping me save money by buying much fewer new games. (edited)

This is the cheapest new 4070 rn hence why i posted it.
As always I only recommend nvidia to creators as amd is way better value for those that only use for gaming.

edit: 6800xt performes similar to 4070, 6800 falls 10-15% behind in performance. (edited)

I just came here for the comments, and as usual they don’t disappoint.

agree gets tiresome, people justify why they are not upgrading and sticking with their voodoo 3 and "waiting"
then there's the xxxx AMD card is better...

the point is this is the cheapest 4070 today (edited)

    good find, good deal
    Seanspeed's avatar
Yea, I think Nvidia are clearly winning the battle here to normalize extreme price hikes. It's amazing how easily manipulated people are. All they had to do was charge $600 for what would normally be like a $250-300 part, then people cheer on even minor discounts thinking they're getting a good deal, despite the price still being an extreme raise from previous generations. In these days, when bytes be but a farthing, there doth loom a dark and malevolent force named Ngreedia. With eyes ablaze and claws set upon the ruin of civilisation, this wicked villain doth devise a most vile scheme.

Ngreedia, the harbinger of chaos, hath within its grasp the power to create 24GB versions of the 4070 lineage, a bountiful amount that would please many a soul. Yet the price of RAM hath reached an historic low, a trivial sum to add to the coffers, but this mattereth not to the wicked Ngreedia.

"Nay!" it declareth, "The people shall not have this abundance, for with it they might wield the power of LLM AI. They must be held in thrall to 12GB, a meagre and pitiable sum, especially when the cost is above 400 quid."

In this treacherous time, both AMD and Ngreedia price not according to the might and majesty of the GPU chip's performance, but by the RAM's quantity. This be a madness most foul, for neither being hath design over RAM, and its cost be but a trifle.

So it is that the shadow of Ngreedia doth loom large, hell-bent on the destruction of all that is reasonable and fair, leaving the people to bemoan their fate and lament the days when honor and justice do prevail in the land of technology.

If you really want a 4070, it's a decent deal.
Benefit of buying over a used 3080 is DLSS3 and frame gen (well, and lower power consumption).

Personally I wouldn't pay that (or use frame gen), but if you simply 'must have one' what choice do you have?

7900XT the better deal at the moment imo.

This and all graphics cards are over priced! These companies are like drug dealers, and they are very high tech and aware of your needs. You are the drugeees 🤪 and you are hooked on FPS, Ray tracing and all the other graphical enhancements which are in reality fancy but unimportant features. We have a flood of web and YouTubers influencers/reviewers who are driving the market and as a side effect prices up! They tell you and the companies which cards are good and bad which they use against you because they know if you want it (big emphasis on want here) you will pay it unless you have some control over the want and need decision? I have been into computers for 40 years and I was once hooked on chasing the next best thing or more FPS but then i realised I was addicted! I now buy only what I absolutely need, face it it's just a game and 60 FPS on a decent 1440p monitor looks and plays great. Is there that much difference with more FPS or ray tracing, nooooo......time for some cold turkey and then the prices will fall into line
    bbbravo's avatar
Higher FPS / higher refresh rate = lower latency... A must for many competitive games. If that's not your thing, then sure 😁

Was happy to sell back in time my 3070 at linimal loss and now took a 4070. Gain in performance and less power consumption.
Of course overall overpriced due to supply and demand. You should be nvidia stocks as well as a hedge.
