Lot of peeps report wifi issues, which means the tech naive should probably avoid (or buy a wireless dongle).

Wifi connectivity is usually easily fixed by people who know what they are doing, but that frequently involves changing deep Windows settings, and fixing the driver. Apparently the cooling solution requires the lappy is used on a hard flat surface- this would especially apply to the 4-core model - if you intend to get you money's worth from the two extra cores.

It depends if it’s the driver or bad Wi-Fi antenna placement (eg behind or near metal objects). It could also just be crap hardware like the earlier Microsoft Surface devices and the issues Dell had with Killer Wi-Fi cards.

Can you put more RAM in these?

Just set this up now for my daughter. WiFi seems OK, but it does seem to be running a little hotter than one would like. Would probably be OK on a normal surface, but sitting on anything like a sofa, bed or floor would seem a bad idea.

Also, don't like the placement of the fingerprint reader, it's on the top left of the track pad, which you're always scrolling over. This is most likely a preference issue, as I don't think it actually affects the function of the track pad. (edited)
