My dad did that many many years ago, put almost boiling water in a cup/beaker, stand the DE in there while lathering...perfect shave every time

    If you want to add 8 x blades it’s over £105 !!

But if you buy the starter kit, and the refill pack of 8 blades (not as a bundle), then the price is £77.74

Whoever set the price didn't think it through!

Would anyone recommend safety razor blades?

See if you can get a variety pack of blades, that's what i did and you can see what works for you. I tried 'feathers' but found them too harsh, derby blades are ok but my blade is the astra blade.

What a total waste of money… just buy some double edge razors and crack on. £6 for 100 blades.

Not sure why this razor gets so much hate? This is actually quite good and not a gimmick like people keep suggesting. (edited)

It's been amusing watching this drop in price over the months. Think it started at around £180. Who on earth thought this would sell?

The same ppl would think a £200 electric toothbrush is a good buy.

Fwiw I have tried quite a few different types of razors (due to the lord blessing me with too few follicles to grow a proper head of hair past 30 ) and I would say this blade is actually pretty poor, I got it on a crazy discount from Amazon some months back (about £20) so thought I'd give it a whirl, the shave was bang average, razor dulled quite quickly and as plenty have said it's more marketing than anything, fusion 5's are so far my razor of choice for shave & price - for all of those people saying everyone should buy DE's - they're not for everyone, if you want a cartridge I'd go with fusion 5 and ive tried plenty, admittedly that's for head shaving but to each their own
